Classic gem
This is a great little movie. It lead to the tv series petrocelli from 1974 to 1976. This is the big screen version so much more adult. Its a good drama which gives you several possible outcomes of the night of the murder. Say no more due to spoilers .Good performances from the cast especially Barry newman Recommended.

Pleasantly surprised
Although I didn't realize that this was made way back in 1969, I was very pleased with the result. It is a very good humoured play on the trial lawyer genre with lots of good lines that go to make it very entertaining. It was obviously not meant to be a serious drama and is surprisingly fresh for its age.

Boring, but a re-intro to Barry Newman
I always wanted to see Barry Newman again in a 1970's spy movie Vanishing Point. I had to order that movie, as I didn't seem to be able to rent it online. But to reintroduce myself to Barry, I opted for this movie.I haven't finished it. It has all the classic early 70's kitsch of shocking intimations of sexual infidelity and brashness. I imagine I will enjoy the plot as I get to see it again, but I can say what I saw of the plot so far didn't make a whole lot of sense in terms of how people act today. I do hope to rent it again when I have time to really sit down with it, and suffer through the first 20 minutes or so to get to the part I haven't seen. I believe I have seen this movie before so it may not be such a revelation to me ... but I don't remember much so I'll be happy to see the whole thing. But if you're not on a quest as I am to reexperience Barry Newman in the spy movie Vanishing Point, it may not be up your alley ... unless you want to remember what the early 70's were like and enjoy some race track stuff.

I love Barry Newman
I love "Petrocelli" and had never seen the movie before. Picture and sound are outstanding, the extras are great - I just love Barry Newman. And I love "The Lawyer" with beautiful Diana Muldaur instead of Susan Howard. Harald Gould is just outstanding. There is a five-minute-scene without cutting. Thats acting! It would be great if Kino could also release the series on Blu Ray. VEI's DVD release is just terrible.

Four Stars
Quirky, old-fashioned, and raunchy in parts---but it still works well in the 21st century.

Criminal Law in the Early 70's
Good mystery and criminal law case, like historical fiction. Enjoyed this interesting to see the old cars and fashion, interior decoration in the 70's. Also the way the court and legal profession was prior to computers. There is some nudity and violence themes might not be suitable for children under age. I would not let my tween watch this due to the mature content. Enjoyed the plot and found it interesting to see the good old days before my time.
