I had this for a few months before I installed it. This was used to replace a Polaris booster pump and is being used to supply a pool fountain. We quit using the Polaris years ago. My grandchildren enjoy this fountain and this 1/2 hp pump is the perfect size for that. It was easy to install. I had to buy a few PVC adapters to plumb it down to the 3/4" (hoses) existing plumbing.

Great pump and very quiet.1) One thing to remember is that it is not self priming so the pump needs to be placed lower than the water (e.g hot tub or above ground pool). I am using for a pool water feature (waterfall) and am using a check valve that insures that water is stored in the pump for startup.2) It does not have standard fittings. The 2" fittings are not actually standard 2" and will not fit standard 2" PVC couplings. The specs say that they are 5cm/2.0". 5cm is actually 1.9685" and I don't think they are quite that large. Consequently, I used rubber coupling with stainless steel clamps. An acceptable compromise considering the price and apparent quality of the pump.

This works really well and is quieter than I expected it to be. Powerful suction and output resulting in a little over 4200 gal/hr.My biggest gripe is that the fittings are not US standard, resulting in having to custom configure this to work w/ what we can find at the hardware store. Like what others have mentioned, I used a rubber coupling to make the connection work with my 1.5 inch hoses.BUT I couldn't find any rubber coupling large enough to fit their claim of 2 inch pipe. The inner wall of that pipe is about 1.97 inches and the outer wall is about 2.12. I was fortunate enough to find an actual 2 inch pipe at Home Depot and was able to shove and pipe glue it into their included pipe. Not sure how that math works, but you can see Home Depot's measurement of 2 inches isn't really 2 inches either. SMHOnce glued into place, I was able to use a 2 inch rubber coupling and everything worked well from there. You can either do this or order that part another customer mentioned in their review. The inside diameter of the fittings are 2 inch, so you can't adapt PVC pipe to it. It says it work on a jacuzzi tub, but within a minute of turning the tub on, it shorted out due to being overheated. Would not recommend.

The media could not be loaded. This product is great. But the fittings are odd size but will fit 1.5 pipes Maybe you are going to use this pump for a hot tub? It is recommended that you buy 2 more fittings the same size that way. You'll be easy to transition from the pump to the heater other than that works great.

I bought the 1 HP as a replacement for a broken spa pump. The original was no longer being manufactured, and direct replacements were $250-300, so I figured I'd try this one instead, expecting some extra work with the plumbing. However, all the plumbing parts fit - all I had to do was bolt a piece of wood underneath, since the mounts were lower than the original. This pump is extremely quiet - at least compared to the original - I have to be standing right next to the spa to hear anything at all. So far I am very happy with this purchase.

The 1 1/2'' slip fitting coupling provided the pump will not work with standard 1 1/2'' PVC pipe. The inside dimension of the slip fitting is too large to provide proper seal with PVC pipe. Ordering 2 WATERWAY #806105 1 1/2'' pump unions from Amazon at $7.99 + tax each solves the problem, but is an added expense you may not want to pay. Other than this problem, the pump seems to works fine.

Pump is loud audibly, much more than the original. Air locks when filter needs even a slight cleaning. That means is probably has a high rate of flow, but is not adjustable.
