defective by design
Long time Sennheiser user here. We have owned two different sets of hdr 180, one of which lasted us over 9 years. We were excited to try the new model and bitterly disappointed in the quality.Short story is, if you have a wireless router in the room where the headphones are located, you will not be able to use them. The interference from the router causes the sound to skip every couple of seconds. I experimented with placing the headphone stand as far away as possible in a large living room, but the result was the same. The problem immediately disappeared once I turned off the wireless router. This was never an issue with the old model. Obviously, I am not going to get rid of my wireless router.Another issue is that these headphones are really uncomfortable. When they were working ok, I could tell no difference with the older model. Overall, a waste of money.

Do Not Buy unless you are a mechanic
I bouthg Bose a couple of years ago. I like them. But, when the earpads wear out and you have to replace the pads, you essentially have to toss the earphones. Replacing the pads is a almost impossible task. You need to be an engineer. I am holding my old pads on with rubber bands. In contrast, I learned too late, the Apple ones just go on quickly and easily with a magnetic system.I do not recommend the Bose earphones because of this.
