Excellent Size and Binding
While I am new to the Book of Common Prayer [BCP]--having spent 60+ years of my life in a non-liturgical church, I truly appreciate this wonderfully bound, and exquisitely printed version of the BCP. Though I'm still learning how to use the book as a daily guide to scripture reading, it is a nice challenge, and the materials are all nicely printed in a readable type. Having been a Christian for over 55 years, it is a nice, new challenge to read the thought-provoking prayers alongside the scripture on a daily basis. The rich heritage preserved in the book is to be relished as a complement to one's daily devotions.

Excellent for delving into the old Puritan and Anglican Church
Enjoyed this book. Really shows how the Church conducted life’s experiences in the 16th/17th century.

SOUND AND GRACEFUL WORK
Brian Cummings has produced an excellent edition of the Prayer Book texts of 1549, 1559, and 1662. It is not a facsimile edition, but the texts are reproduced in a clear and readable format. Many an author has lost his way in the thicket of scholarship surrounding the Tudor and Caroline church. Cummings has provided an introduction which navigates this hugely complex topic in a way that is both helpful and succinct. The author offers notes and commentary on the contents of the three prayer books that is insightful. A select bibliography is provided for those who wish to explore specific issues more fully. This book will be of use to the merely curious and to the serious student.

It's 3 books in one!
I'm sure we all know it's 3 versions of the Book of Common Prayer. It's great to see the changes in the content as well as the spellings. You can't help but read the 1549 and 1559 versions with an old timey English accent. I'm studying the history of the Anglican Tradition and this book makes it really easy to reference the development of doctrine through history. If you are using this book it would behoove you to use some sort of tabs to organize it. It's a very busy book.

A great compilation of the historical BCP
A valuable and economical compilation of the earliest versions of the BCP, the foundation of the Church of England and the Episcopal Church in America among others in the Anglican Communion. Interesting variations from version to version reflect some of the turbulence of the time.

Excellent for information on the Prayer Books, and usable for devotions.
This book gives excellent background information for the three main Traditional Church of England Books of Common Prayer and can also be used for devotions. I keep it nearby to read the daily psalms, though I do not use this when I travel. For Protestants who adhere to the 39 Articles, who who just want a Reformed prayer book, the 1662 BCP is complete in this edition. Come with a ribbon marker.

A perfect edition of the Book of Common Prayer
A complete and erudite edition of three versions of The Book of Common Prayer. A long and exquisitely informative about role, structure and influence of this Book. This edition could serve for spiritual reading and the study of english literature too. A very good system of foot notes gives a lot of biblical references, theological explanations. Everything is done in order to transmit the very essence of the spiritual life in classical Church of England. You must have that book on the shelf of your favorite books.
