My ten-year-old son wants to build a coin collection, so I used this as a great way to "seed" his set. The first thing I realized as we spread these out on the living room floor is that five pounds of coins is a LOT of coins! We set out to sort them by country to start, and at two-thirds of the way through the bag we've already identified over 50 countries. The coins seem to range from about 1970 all the way up to at least 2009 - I'd say it's a good mix between those ranges. What makes it interesting to me (and to try to explain to my son) is that it contains many currencies (Francs, Lire) and countries (Czechoslovakia) that don't exist or aren't used any longer. I was also happy to see at least one Euro cents-based coin in there, since that's a good talking point for a ten-year-old when discussing currencies. Are there duplicate coins? Sure, but that's to be expected and it's perfectly fine. We have a lot so far from Mexico and from England, and there are a few other countries with some coins appearing many times, but we also have some from (to me) more obscure places such as Romania, Czechoslovakia, Thailand, Guyana, and several others from countries using the Arabic writing system that I've yet to sit down and identify. You're probably not likely to get one-of-a-kind or super-valuable coins out of this, but as an introduction to the world's currency and as a great way to get a pretty wide variety of coins at one time, I'd say this is a fantastic buy.

I'm new to coin collecting - given that, this is a fun assortment with some treasures like a WWII-era Japanese coin. The majority were newer, in the '90's or later. I charted my finds and listed the oldest date for each country - the average was 1989. Euro coins were heavily represented, as well as English pennies.Because they're money, I washed them first but still had the typical expected grunge on my fingers after going through them.The box of 10 small bags contained coins from 76 countries, ranging from Argentina to Vietnam and many points in between. 641 coins total, 221 unique coins, so many duplicates. Depending on your use for them, this could be a feature or a drawback. nice amount of coins from many of places a lot of copy's to but plenty to start a collection from you can tell they where not searched first the coins come with dirt on them my hands had to be washed several times while trying to search the coins found some good ones most worth from .25 to 3 bucks or more so happy with order just know you will need to have them cleaned i would recommend this to any coin collector since i made this review the price has went 20 bucks more taking it to 70 at 50 i would recommend at 70 i would say skip none of the coins where worth that and out of the ton i got there was no gold or silver coins and i do not be leave there will be buyer beware at 70 bucks way to high for this item at 50 nice deal for the fun of the find.

I was excited to receive this set, hoping for a good variety of coins to add to my collection. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with what I got. There were way too many duplicates—one particular coin from Japan repeated more than 20 times, some coins appeared 4 or 5 times, and several types were repeated across the entire set. I understand that some repetition is regular, but this was excessive.If you want to start a diverse coin collection, this is not the set for you. It feels more like a bulk filler than a curated collection. The description was misleading, as it implied more variety than was delivered.Overall, I wouldn't recommend this to serious collectors. It might be fine for crafts or educational use, but if you're looking for unique or historic coins, you'd be better off buying individual pieces or from a specialized seller.

it is a good buy but the only thing is there were too many euro coins and british pennies... in some cases they were half the bag.
