It is all about the main event
This was a great movie. It stayed true to the source material of the original comic, but also made the story fit current DC animated universe movie. The only thing I did not like was the character design. I have said that through out the new DC universe movies. The characters look muscular but too compressed for me. Will some please give the Martian Manhunter a sandwich, the man is withering away. The crew admitted they learned from the mistakes they made in the first Death of Superman movie, which was they tried to fit the whole Death, World without, and Return of Superman into one 90 min movie, making it too rushed. Hence this movie is slower paced till which might turn people off a bit, but I think this is great as they used this time to show what Superman means to people and how much the world has come to depend on him too the point where it is completely unthinkable that Superman will not save the day. I also like Superman's personal crisis, I though this was a great touch of humanizing the character. The fight itself was great, but so was the build up of showing Doomsday as a merciless single minded killing machine. Cutting his way through through the Justice league and anyone or thing else like they where not even there. It did also give the other heroes their moments as the true nature of is hero is to keep battling no matter what. I am not a big Superman fan, but this movie definitely showed his heroic attributes as well as his powers. An all round great movie that built and corrected the mistakes of it's predecessor. I just wish the character designs was different. In fairness the characters do look better in their civilian grab then in their costumes. I would give this 4.5 stars but it definitely deserves a round up rather then down. Bring on the Reign.

Doomsday for Superman
A new DC Comics animated movie, which is based on the classic early 90's comic story 'The Death of Superman.'SPOILER; Superman dies near the end of it.This is the second time DC animation have filmed this story. The first being 'Superman/Doomsday.' But this is an entirely fresh take on it, and gives the story room to breathe by splitting it into two. Things will be continued in the upcoming dvd 'Reign of the Supermen.' Thus this one does end on something of a cliffhanger.Metropolis has gotten used to Superman stepping in and saving the day. Superman is firmly established as a member of the Justice League. And he tries to balance that with his life as star reporter Clark Kent, and burgeoning romance with Lois Lane. But something's holding him back from taking the next step with her. Then when a strange meteor hits the Earth, and a terrifying creature emerges and launches a destructive rampage, Superman faces the fight of his life. What would they do without him?...This takes the original story and updates a fair few things, not least to fit it into the continuity of recent dc animations, thus you get the Justice League from 'Justice League: War', and all their animated appearances since. It also updates it to fit a story from the early 90's into the world of smart phones and the internet. If you've read the original, you will find this all works really rather well. It is nice to see a few characters, like Dan Turpin and Bibbo who have been long lost to reboots and relaunches, once again.Jerry O'Connell is an appealing and affable Superman. And Rainn Wilson makes for a compelling Lex Luthor. It is in some ways a film of two halves, as the first is very much focused on Superman and his life as it could be with Lois. The animation really does give the characters the look of those showing genuine feeling, and that comes over superbly in the acting as well.As this is going on, the plot is steadily building, with set up being judiciously handled - with some things that will be important in the sequel as well - never getting in the way. Those who want action though will not be disappointed as the bulk of the second half is nigh on action all the way, which doesn't pull any punches in depicting how strong and dangerous an opponent Doomsday is, and what Superman has to find and give in order to deal with him.It doesn't stop with the fight though, the story being just as much about the emotional effect on the world of losing him, so the final few minutes might just get something stuck in your eye that could make water come out of it.And it does very well in giving us a cliffhanger, with a final scene that will make you want to see what happens next. Even if you are familiar with the story.Keep watching right to the end of the credits, as this has more extra scenes during them than any other superhero film ever.A very good take on this story, and a very entertaining watch. The dvd has the following language and subtitle options:Languages: English, Castilian Spanish, French, German.Subtitles: English, Castilian Spanish, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Norwegian, Romanian, Swedish. It comes with the usual flyer with a code that will get you a copy of the film onto a digital device. And in the extras section is a sneak peek at the upcoming second half of this story 'Reign of the Supermen.' Which as usual with these mixes talking heads and clips to preview it. But with these previews they are usually unfinished animation, but this one mostly uses finished animation for it's clips. Which is nice.Do be aware this is a twelve certificate dvd ,and thus might not be suitable for some younger viewers thanks to violence and a couple of very mild words, also a very mild adult reference or two. Those who are troubled by flashing imagery be careful at one point also.

As expected
The dvd is new, sealed and in excellent condition, I have not yet watched the movie, so that needs to be taken into account. Apart from that the item was well packaged and arrived safely and very prompt. Overall a great service.

A brilliant animated movie
This storyline was turned in to an animated movie some years back, but condensed. This time, the storyline has been allowed to evolve naturally, so we have part one here with part two 'Reign of the Supermen' coming in 2019. Animation is brilliant, although I can't understand why they have kept Wonder Woman in her old garb, which was not that great to begin with. The film kept me enraptured. A very high standard compared to some of the DC animated movies released recently which haven't been quite above par. Well worth watching.

Really Super
A very well made animated movie with a great voice acting cast. If you have enjoyed previous animated DC films from Warner Bros you won't be disappointed this is very close to the graphic novels with a few subtle differences.

Animation should match the storyline
Clunky, slightly cheap looking animation, which is a shame given the source material and story going on. The voice acting is good too.

Worth it!
Epic DC animated film, full of action. This is actually better put together than Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice as far as straightforward plot. If your a DC fan like me you'll love it.
