Works great for mosquitoes, has no effect on wasps.
Good LED camp lantern. Is a good repellent for mosquitoes and works sometimes for flies and gnats, but doesn't seem to have any effect on wasps, and the others that are in that family. Very easy to use and found it to be sturdy and dependable enough to buy another one. Really a necessity for camping near the water.

Great mosquito repellent
This item was recommended to me by my son-in-law. I was skeptical because I usually use the citronella candles, but I purchased this to try it out. I am a mosquito attraction! I am also allergic to their bites and they itch horribly, swell up then stay for days. I read the directions and set it up 15 minutes before I actually went out to enjoy my patio. It works!! Not one bite. The only negative thing is; when you click the start the *orange glow" is not very visible in lighted areas. I wasn't really sure it was lighted untill I felt the warmth from the top. I would definitely recommend this item for keeping an area free from mosquitoes. Oh! Let's not forget that this is also a very bright lantern that can be on with or without the repellent. There is no scent unless you get very close. This lantern can be placed on a picnic table or hung above the table with the attached handle. I feel this is much safer than the candles, especially around kids.

Works!
Worked great for our camping trip, limited our bug bites for sure. The on/off and start mechanism is wonky though, needs to be much more define. Was paranoid numerous times whether the item was on.

Bug free patio all summer thanks to Thermacell!
Title: Bright and Effective Lantern! The Thermacell Lantern is fantastic! It requires 3 AAA batteries and is incredibly bright. I’m very impressed with the price. Not only does it light up the area well, but it also keeps pesky mosquitoes away. Love it! Highly recommend for outdoor areas that need to be illuminated.

Works Great
We tried one out at Hunting Island State Park Campground in SC. It’s a beach campground and was breezy. We tried placing in upwind from our tables and it worked well. Played cards at a picnic table and placed it on top to use the lamp for board games. Lamp brightness is adjustable and works well. After a few minutes of game play we noticed mosquitoes around our feet. We got another lateen for light and put the thermocell under the table. Wallah… just minutes later no more mosquitoes!

The old razor blade problem…
These tend to work when there are limited mosquitos but I’ve found them less than effective when there are a lot of them. Other concern is how quickly it blows through the non-refillable butane canisters. In essence it costs nearly $4 every time you want to use the unit. If they were 100% effective I’d have no problem with that, but as I said…. They can be hit or Miss in terms of efficacy.

Doesn't work at all. Do NOT recommend! 🦟 bites are bad.
Purchased this item due to mosquito visitors on my back patio. They love me but the feeling isn't reciprocated. I purchased this after reading the reviews with high hopes that it would work for me too. I read and followed the directions, warmed it up and left it on for a couple hours within 1 foot from me. The 🦟 continued to bite. The mosquitos even rested on the lamp. Needless to say, it did not work at all for me. I tried for weeks: switched cartridges, lantern settings, and length of use. Very disappointing especially because I purchased extra long lasting refills. Want to return but past the 30 days. Should've gave up sooner but I was persistent. Do NOT recommend. **Did not comment on light feature but there are multiple settings. It is annoying that you have to click through all of them. Dim, bright, flashing, etc.

Pleased enough to recommend it to a friend!
I've used the lantern for about 2 to 3 hours, once a week, every Sunday night, for about 6 weeks now and I'm still on the first fuel cell and second repellant mat. I turn it on right about sunset, so it's had time to warm up by dusk, and then typically don't need it anymore by a couple hours after dark. I keep it on or sometimes under the patio table, but across from me, so maybe 5 feet away from where I'm sitting, so I can't speak to it's efficacy at greater range, but at that distance I've had excellent results. I think some people see 15 feet and think that means they can be 15 feet away from it, and that's just not how it works. It's 15 feet diameter, so it's really only meant to be used from within 7.5 feet of the device. The mosquitos have been really bad in our area this year, and I've been taking a lot of measures to try to decrease the habitability of my yard for them, but even with all my efforts, it's been the worst summer for mosquitoes in the 4 years I've lived here, but once I turn on the thermacel and let it run for 10 or 15 minutes, I don't get bit again.
