Howard Leight QB2HYG-1 Quiet Band NRR 25 Canada Class, 1 Each

I first saw these used by Hickok45 on Youtube and he talked positively about them. I read some reviews online and saw both positive and negative comments. At such a cheap price, I got two and gave them a try. At first, I didn't think they were going to work very well. After some fiddling, I found they work pretty darn good. With my ears, they fit the best if the band starts on top of my head, I insert the plugs then rotate the band behind my head. PRESTO, perfect fit. Shooting the 9mm and 12ga out back was comfortable with no ringing afterward. Small and easy to transport, just throw in the range bag. Yet, they are big enough to keep around your neck out of the way without cutting into your neck. I had this problem with some AO Safety banded plugs similar to these. I can sit these Howard Leights down on the shooting bench without worrying about them getting dirty since the band is curved placing the plugs in the air. I highly recommend them to anybody needing banded hearing protection. Multiple vendors on Amazon provide these, but I chose this vendor because the plant my brother works at buys safety equipment from Armor all the time. They are very competitively priced. Placed the order on Sunday and had them on Wednesday, still smoking when I took them out of the box. Each pair I ordered came with a set of replacement plugs.

Love how it goes around the neck when not in use. When in use works great. Keeps the sound away.

Pros:-Works really well to block out loud noises (i.e. gun ranges)-Very low profile (compared to muff ear protectors)-Great Price-Sturdy constructionCons:-Tight fitting and puts pressure on the inside of the ears-Not a universal fit (my wife felt hers did not fit well at all)I went to go shoot an AR pistol at my local gun range, which from general consensus is pretty loud due to the shorter barrel. I was concerned with damaging my hearing from insufficient hearing protection but at the same time I didn't want to sacrifice proper cheek weld from bulky ear muffs. I opted for these after reading the reviews and also seeing Hickok45 on Youtube wearing them. I also didn't want to have my hearing protection press on my safety glasses creating a gap of sorts or also have swamp ear from the 80 degree weather. These fit the bill and I'd have to say they are an excellent value. At least for me it does. Sure it's a bit tight, but the foam fits securely and I don't have to worry about it falling out like regular ear plugs. I'd recommend these for those looking to have a low profile solution to loud noises.

I got this pair of earpro as backups for when I go to the range with friends and they need something. They seem very sturdy and feel quite adequate. I really like the feel of them too. I have a rather large head and figured these would be super tight but they aren't. They seem to fit perfectly with just the right amount of pressure to plug your earholes. The part that goes into your ear feels very comfortable and makes a nice seal. I also really like that they come with a pair of replacement ear foam things.There are two issues, however. If you wear these Hickok45 style, the band rubs on the back of your neck and makes an annoying rubbing noise that you hear in your ears. Not that big a deal. Second issue is the pair I got have these weird white marks on them. Not sure what it is, but I'm pretty sure I got a "defective" set. It doesn't affect the function at all but still kind of weird. Other than that, it would've been 5 stars. Highly recommend for a backup pair of earpro, maybe even as your primary ears if you're on a budget.

These work great. I have friends that like wearing ear plugs with a full set of ear protection on top of that but that seems like overkill to me. I don't like full sets of ear protection because they feel bulky and uncomfortable. Some people dont like this style of ear protection but I love them. The best part is I can walk away from the firing line and just pop em off and drop em down on my neck without having to worry about losing them. The full ear pro i can't keep on my neck comfortably and have to put em down somewhere every time and often forget to grab them before walking back up to the foreign line and have to go back to get em. A couple of my friends say they feel these aren't effective enough but I shoot 12G, .308, 7.62x54r, 45ACP, etc with these and I feel they work great. Just this last weekend I was in between a guy shooting a .338 Lapua Magnum and a guy shooting a .50 BMG and yea the .50 kept catching me off guard because it would shake the ground and the concussion blast from the muzzle brake was huge but no discomfort from excessive noise wearing these.

I don't have an unusually large head but these are so small and I keep bending them open to give some room. They feel fine on your head when in use but if you lower them around your neck they dig in. I only use/need protection when I am using power tools and like to have them on my neck when not needed. Often I would forget I had my old ones on my neck they were so comfortable.They do have great sound protection.

COMES WITH 2 PAIRS OF EARBUDS. More comfortable than in the ear canal type but effectively muffles lawn mower, chain saw etc.. More versatile & comfortable than ear muff style & can be worn with all style hats. Easy to adjust for greater decibel reduction by pulling up on ear with opposite hand from behind the head and pressing on earpiece with the other hand to tighten fit. Good quality frame given the price. Bright color makes it easy to find. Doesn't mess your hair (if you have any) as muffs do. I find it comfortable to wear the frame in front with its offset facing out. I'll use these more because they are less of a hassle & easy to remove quickly & put back on.
