RUSH Heaven
As a long time Rush fan this book is great! Lots of photos of everything Rush related. I even found a photo of a ticket stub to an Oklahoma City concert that I went to when I was 17 years old.One of the things I always enjoy is reading about the creative processes of the bands. This book doesn't disappoint... you find yourself in the room as songs are written and as the process of recording them takes place.Even though this book is a few years old it is well worth purchasing for the Rush fan and those wanting to learn about them.

Absolutely a must have for any Rush fan!
This book is truly awesome. No literary awards will be won, but it has to be part of the collection for any true Rush fan. Of course, it closely mirrors the incredible Rush documentary "Beyond the Lighted Stage", but it also gives so much more. Terrific details about other bands the Canadian trio played in, additional short-term band members (a second guitarist!), rock and roll comic book excerpts, very old ticket stubs, and just an incredible number of vintage and contemporary pictures throughout. This hefty hard cover book is beautifully designed and constructed. I haven't been so excited to receive anything in the mail in a very long time!

Any Rush fan needs this book!
I learned a lot about my favorite band that I didn't know! I enjoyed the background info and notes and reviews of all their albums over the years. I think this is a must-read for any Rush fan. Sad that I missed R40; somehow they were off my radar when they came to ATL; the book helped give background to what seems to be 'the end' of their touring. Very sad but great to read about them!

Minimal New Info Here -- Decent Pics If That's What You Want...
I have been a Rush fan since 1978 and own all their music and concert DVD releases (including more than 1 copy of each music release).I did enjoy this book but found it a very tedious read. It also lacked any real information about the band members themselves. Good information on the background of individual albums and their recording processes. There are lots of album reviews, band pictures, and pictures of band collectibles I had not seen before. However, if you are looking for more than the usual fanboy rah-rah information, might I suggest the movie biopic "Beyond The Lighted Stage." Great stuff there from the band members themselves.

Excellent book
As a diehard hard fan,I grew up with these guys in the 70's.Living in upstate NY,Rush toured through here nearly every year, and we never missed a show. This book is an absolute superior history of the band.Gotta be in your library if you are a fan.Martin Popoff did an excellent job here, the book is laid out in chronological order with great background and photos.Heck, the cover alone is worth the price.

he was excited to receive it and happy to see it had more recent great photos
This was a gift to my 52-year-old son who has been an avid RUSH fan from a very early age. As an artist, he designed a RUSH tee shirt featuring all the band members! His dad screen printed my son's design on many different color tee shirts. I was very proud. As for the book I purchased for his 52 birthday this year, he was excited to receive it and happy to see it had more recent great photos.

Awesome! But it somehow escaped getting a slipcover...
I got this book in the mail yesterday! After just flipping through some of the extensive content, I know I'm gonna love this tome. It's a beautiful hardcover book, but somehow it didn't come with wrapped in plastic nor did it come with a slipcover. The cover is black, and just through shipping (in a box with lots of padding) the edges are already a little scuffed and showing white cardboard underneath. I would not trade this book in and as a die-hard Rush fan will keep it forever, so I guess I'll have to pull out a Sharpie regularly and clean up the scuffs to keep the cover looking "pretty".

A great book about a great band
I absolutely love Rush and have been trying to find a book about them for a while. This one could be considered coffee table quality. It covers all their albums up to Clockwork Angels, with those in the music industry writing each chapter. Each album is discussed and insight is given to the trio. It is like having Beyond The Lighted Stage in book form, so to speak, although the two are unrelated. If you enjoy Rush, you will probably enjoy this book.

Full of history, photos, and backstory, a must have for any Rush fan, and welcome for those who are learning.
I am not a huge Rush fan, even though I've always listened to them and respected what they do. I am a fan of Peart's drumming, and some of their concerts have been amazing. This book looks back at Rush since their founding in 1974, and the way the group grew through the 70s and 80s into something of a Canadian cultural phenomenon. There's tons of photos, interview excerpts, clippings, and other mementos in this book to keep Rush fans happy, and those who are learning about Rush will be fascinated by the history behind this group. While unofficial, there's an awful lot of content here than would be in any official release. There's also a good discography of all their albums (and the stories behind them). The book is well written, heavily illustrated, and an interesting read. As someone who saw this group back in the late 70s in a seedy bar north of Toronto, I could never have imagined they would become the Canadian supergroup they are now, or that they would have attracted the attention they did, but they got where they are through hard work and caring about their product. Good for them! This book celebrates that development and rise to where they are now. There's something for the superfan, the fan, and the merely curious here. Nicely done.

beautiful
I love this book, which will be a must have for all Rush fans like me. I must say I have not seen the author's previous book on the same subject, so there might be repetitions (?) but this one is great. Lots of pics, anecdotes, album reviews, etc. Beautifully presented, it covers up to the US Clockwork tour (I have just seen Rush on the same tour, but in Germany 2 weeks ago). I have not seen too much overlap with the Classick rock magazine that came with Clockwork, neither with the Beyond the lighted stage DVD, where the author was involved. GET IT!

Great read.
Liked this one a lot. Great stories of how things went down in the recording of many classic Rush albums, from the meagre beginnings to the epic masterpieces that were recorded over the years. Every Rush album is detailed, with wonderful insight from the band members themselves and world famous producers. A plethora of wonderful details, from the seeds of an idea to the origin of song lyrics to the album cover concepts, it's all here.

Fabulous Collector's Item
I ordered this book for my Son's birthday. He has followed RUSH for over 30 years and he will love it. A fabulous publication, a large, chunky book which looks worth much more than the retail price, well presented with all the information a RUSH addict could want! It is right up to date, including their Lifetime Achievement Award and the concert My Son went to in Birmingham on 26th May 2013. If you follow RUSH you will know all of this information already but this would be a lovely addition to any collection. Enjoy!
