Performance at a good price
Having owed and using Topdon, Ivonna, Xtool and an early bluetooth Android with dongle, I can say the D7s is a very capable scan tool for the price. I have used it on several GM, Ford, and an early model Chrysler, with no major problems. It's a quick scan tool with many features and capabilities depending on the vehicle manufacturer. I have found not one scanner will do everything, but so far the D7s has done everything that I have needed to do. On a couple older GM models I found that the D7s showed a couple more modules that my Topdon didn't.With free updates and no subscription fees this scan tool is budget friendly as well as good tech support and great customer service. (My personal experience). D7s is a good scan tool for small shop or a knowledgeable DIYer. Even without any trouble codes present you can check the overall health of your vehicle and correct or avoid future problems. If you just want to check codes and perform basic repairs I suggest looking at Xtool IP508 (about $150) or the AD20 pro (about $75) that you link to your Android or I phone. No I am not be paid or compensated for these suggestions.Overall I would purchase the D7s again and may purchase a D9 if my customer base grows larger. Launch, Autel, and Topdon make good scanners, but at my budget and needs I prefer my Xtool scan tool.

Sports a wide array of capabilities but implementation is lacking
Pros:#1) customer support is very good from this company. I've contacted them and they were very quick to respond and address the issue through software updates.#2) Android interface is nice and allows to use the internal browser to view videos as needed. It is a bit clunky when compared to modern Android OS phones/tablets though. You may be better off using a computer for this. If you have no other choice, it is a welcome addition.#3) Bidirectional functionality is helpful (when it works) and is the main capability for this product. Most of the functionality works but is quite clunky. Compared to some other manufacturers, the implementation of these are lacking.Cons:#1) Functionality is spread all over the place and deep diving into menu selections to select the correct car is infuriating difficult at times. If you put in a VIN, it should automatically decode exactly what it is after you select the correct country.#2) I have a simple bluetooth device code reader (name hint: a color + someone who drives) for reading codes and the design interface is so much easier to find certain points of interest. For example, for a 2nd gen Nissan Versa, to find the cylinder misfire on my simple bluetooth device code reader is right on the first screen. Simple and easy to find. For this particular model, I need to deep dive into engine and special functions just to look at misfire information. Makes it a bit difficult when trying to diagnose the misfire on the main screen that adds in telemtered points to see it as a whole.#3) Battery dies rather quick on this unit. If I leave it in the case for a week powered off, it seems the battery dies off. Makes it a pain when you have to use it and a customer is waiting and finding out there is no battery. This is the 2nd unit that I have that does this. There is a fundamental design flaw in how the battery and the charging system works on this model.#4) At maximum brightness, with direct sunlight on the screen (yes I know this is not idea and most people will use in car or in a garage but it happens), it is pretty hard to see.#5) Most of the bidirectional functionality works but is quite clunky. Compared to some other computer utility manufacturers, the implementation of these are lacking in this particular unit.#6) A major flaw is the EVAP test for certain makes such as Honda. I lost a customer to being unable to run the EVAP test from the unit. Although, XTool customer service did send a beta software update to address this issue. A simple bluetooth reader can run this test flawlessly. So, even though this unit can do a whole lot of things, it fails to do simple functionality.
