Reading reviews is an absolute minefield for lever pull bottle openers.That said this Le Creuset lever pull works really well, it has a smooth action and feels as though it will be durable.This replaced a cheaper model by another brand and that snapped in less than 6 months!

My original 'Screwpull' worked perfectly well for many years, until the lever broke though old-age. As designed, it always extracted the cork from the bottle and thence removed the cork from the screw in 2 swift actions. I then purchased the 'Le Creuset' Lever Set, but returned this item because it was lacking the foil cutter. However, the free-of-charge replacement 'Le Creuset' corkscrew fails to function in the manner described above, in that it neither extracts nor removes the cork in 2 single actions. Much 'wiggling of cork' by hand is required. The precision build quality of the 'old Screwpull' just does not exist.

This screwpull is fantasy

Good quality and clearly better made than a similar own-brand design that I purchased from a large department store, and broke after 5 or 6 years. If this one breaks (which seems less likely given the design) it will be the corkscrew insert, which is replaceable. So I'm expecting to get a lot more years from this one.The foil cutter is also excellent, 4 cutters instead of 2 makes a big difference. A big step up from the cheaper one it replaced.The major frustration is that at this price it doesn't come with a stand. That's just cheap. I used the stand from the old one that does fit but doesn't look quite right, but at least stores it neatly with the foil cutter just about staying put. It would definitely get a 5* from me if they included a stand.

for a corkscrew of this price and brand, I would have expected a lot more. Whilst it looks stylish and initially worked well, 6 months of use, 4/5 bottles a week, it's broken, where the cork is stuck and the screw is loose. Consider very carefully before purchasing
