Easy install, doing the job in minutes
An area of out home is a substantial distance from our cable modem and router, with a number of walls in between. The WiFi strength on that side of the house was a lot weaker than I wanted. There's an Ethernet cable strung to that part of the building, and twenty bucks seemed like a reasonable risk, so I grabbed this router and set it up as an access point. Set up was painless, and it's working just fine. This unit is 2.4 GHz only, so if you need 5GHz for some reason, look elsewhere. The lower frequency is just fine for my needs.

working as expected… or better!!
I bought this access point for my younger brother because he was unable to connect his older devices (Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, etc.) to our home internet. I believe that this was due to the security software inside our main router. I got this access point so that he could basically bypass the security software. When we tried to connect the devices to this access point, his devices connected flawlessly! Given that this access point is single band (2.4ghz only) the speed is somewhat on the slower side, which is expected. We have 500mbps service at the main router, and I was getting about 100mbps at most on the access point. That number was better than what I expected for how cheap the unit is. Overall, I am very pleased with this cost effective solution and I won’t see Ethernet cables running across the floor anymore!

Capable, with some glitches
Keep in mind this is just an access point. It is not intended to function as an all-in-one wireless/wired router. It is good for larger locations where you want to plug several of these into the wired network in different rooms to have strong signal/good throughput everywhere. I have 3 of them.As noted in other reviews - SSL doesn't function - it tries to respond on port 443 but the certificate is either misconfigured or missing and there is no way to install/generate it via the UI (I have both hardware versions 2 and 3 of these with whatever latest firmware available). There are some issues in the Javascript code the login page produces that prevent it opening or completing the loading under some conditions in certain browsers. Best I can describe it is 'finicky'.Another possible minus - the first of these I bought started malfunctioning recently (connects/disconnects even after a reset). This is after at least a couple of years of totally unattended operation and, given the price point, I'm not too disappointed. On the plus side - simple to configure, working SNMP (so you can watch these things in Zabbix), and working SSID-to-VLAN mapping which was important to my use case - these are less SOHO and more enterprise features. Throughput is good.

great product
It works great and solved my problem of having a router sending out 2.4 GHZ

Very slow as an access point or extender
I was attempting to use this as an access point in my house. It comes with a POE injector so power can go through cat5 cable. It was easy to set up and within 5 minutes it was going.I noticed right away when I used Google's Speedtest option that it seemed very slow. After resetting it multiple times to defaults and trying some of the other options I had verified that this unit was a huge bottleneck for anything connecting to it. In the photos I show the speed going through this new device (the slow one) and then using the same phone to go through my main AP. The testing was performed multiple times. As you can see it is just way to slow to be of any use to me. Perhaps I received a defective one. I don't know but I returned it anyway. Yes, it is a good bargain at $20, but I would rather pay more for something that gives close to the speed my network is capable of acheiving.

Easy setup
I got this as a client to hook up to my main router from my wireless modem. The setup was a breeze. It gives you a simple quick start guide to get you into the access point and then walks you through what type of device you want to set it up to be. I had it up and running is less than 10 minutes. It looks nice and can be wall mounted or just sat on a table, desk, or shelf. It includes a decent length power cord and ethernet cable. The connection and speed have been stable and consistent.

Very easy to set-up and get going
This wireless AP is great for extending coverage in any area. With the ability to either act as a repeater or stand-alone AP, for a great price, I recommend trying this device out. Configuration as an AP is easy if you've set up a wireless AP before. While it is easy to mistakenly turn on DHCP and knock out your existing wireless network (the static IP and gateway options are hidden behind the DHCP setting), resetting the device is also remarkably simple.

Really slow!
I ran two 300-foot runs of CAT6 outdoor cable from my router in the barn, one to my shop and the other to my house. In the shop I plugged the cable into an ethernet switch and got 750 Mbs downloads. The run to the house was plugged into this access point. I get only 30 Mbs downloads. Why this huge discrepancy? Granted that WiFi is slower, but more than an order of magnitude? I blame this access point.
