Q: Can one hang a 2x4 lumber using 2 1/2" screws instead of 1 inch?

If you're using these to attach a 2x4 to a wall, then a 2½" screw would work well. Make sure you drill a hole in the 2x4 that allows the screw to rotate freely in the 2x4 so you can tighten the screw enough to expand the back of the anchor against the drywall.

Q: Is this anchor designed for gypsum block?

Yes. It works great on ½" thick board.

Q: Are these anchors able to fasten metal handrails to stucco walls and resist pulling out with constant use?

Hi, thanks for the question. Handrails are frequently considered as a structural application. Therefore, we wouldn't recommend to use these type of anchors for it and instead steel anchors, especially for constant use.
