Assuming you mean to apply Anchorseal 2 to the end grain to prevent checking, you may never have to reapply. I would suggest brushing on one coat of Anchorseal 2 and two minutes later, a second coat, allowing t to fully penetrate. It will seal off the end grain while minimizing the expansion/contraction of the wood as well, since 80% of the moisture absorbed by exterior wood is absorbed through the end grain. The only exception might be if the end grain pieces are exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods of time. I would check once a year to see if reapplication in sun exposed areas is required. If you can no longer feel a "waxy" coating you can reapply as necessary. Good luck!

worth the cost

I've tried several different types of end grain treatment and this is definitely the easiest to use and most effective, at least for what I do (keeping bowl blanks fresh.) It is more expensive than other options, but lasts a long time. Worth the cost, at least to me.
