Everything you need and want to know about treating BFRBs
Drs. Deibler and Reinardy have put together as comprehensive and organized of a workbook as you're going to need for clinicians who treat BFRBs or anyone suffering from BFRBs, with emphasis on recovery! There is plenty of compassion throughout the workbook, and the evidence and science in their approach is best in class.. There is a detailed history and background of where the field is in understanding and treating BFRBs, with a focus on increasing motivation and leveraging one's resilience and grit to recover from such an emotionally draining and stigmatizing condition. This is one of those workbooks that graduate students and seasoned clinicians will be using for years to come because of the many useful and tangible handouts and step-by-step instructions. Overall, this was thoughtfully organized and crafted and the expertise and passion of the authors is evident in every chapter. Excellent resource, a workbook I recommend to everybody on my team and anyone who's treating BFRBs.

Fantastic addition to the literature on an often overlooked problem
This is an extremely user friendly workbook for those with body focused repetitive behaviors (BFRB) such as skin picking or hair pulling. It's also a valuable tool for professionals who work with these problems. The authors use a mixture of Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing in their treatment approach. These therapies are all empirically supported for other disorders such as anxiety, depression, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. This comprehensive approach will certainly address possible obstacles to change. I especially appreciated their focus on the awareness of urges, the specific behaviors, and the consequences of BFRP. Well done!Laura L Smith, Ph.D. Author of Narcissism For Dummies, Anxiety For Dummies and many other books in the For Dummies series.
