Isaiah: The Promise of the Messiah (MacArthur Bible Studies)

Randomly Skips Chapters
Overall, this is a good book. It’s not as in-depth as a traditional commentary, which, in my opinion, makes it more readable. It is designed as a Bible study, so it could be read individually or with a group. Dr. MacArthur does an excellent job explaining the organization, flow, and themes of Isaiah. This book was a benefit to me as I read through the book of Isaiah. This book does need a second edition so that numerous minor spelling and grammar errors can be corrected. The main thing I disliked about the book is that it skips about 20 random chapters in Isaiah. There’s no explanation as to why those chapters are skipped. In subsequent editions, it would be nice to see those chapters included. That said, as long as you’re not looking for a precise commentary, I would still recommend this book.

Grateful
I'm so grateful for authors like John MacArthur who can summarize complex writings into an easy to comprehend story. I was hesitant to read the book of Isaiah because it seemed too complex. But, this is a breeze!
