Do these aa to d spacers work in a maglite 2d model?

No, they won’t work in a Maglite 2D. They have a “one closed end” cylinder design. The bottom end is the open exposed contact of the AA battery. Unfortunately, the Maglite 2D tailcap spring had a large diameter in excess of the AA battery base diameter; so no electrical contact will be made. I made this mistake ordering this item for this very purpose! I recommend this one which is far better: https://www.amazon.co.uk/DSLRKIT-Parallel-Battery-Convertor-Adapter/dp/B00OUM17AQ The DSLRKIT design has the added advantage of allowing anything between 2 to 6 AA cells to be used in the Maglite 2D. Two AAs (one in each spacer) works fine. But six allows for enormous run time if needed! Just make sure it is the “parallel” version for 1.5V use that you order for the Maglite 2D. The “series” version outputs 4.5V (from 3AAs) that can be used in place of lithium ion batteries.

I have a d cell torch, it takes 4 d cell batteries. i would like to switch to using lithium aa batteries. would it be safe using your adapter.

The adaptor just uses 1 AA battery to make a D cell. 1 EBL AA rechargeable NiMH battery is 2800mAh so it won’t last long compared to a EBL NiMH D cell rated at 10,000mAh. I don’t think you can buy lithium rechargeable batteries just long life disposables size AA?

Are thease reusable as ive got rechargeble batteries i want to use in them

These are totally re-usable. They are a hard plastic shell holding an 'AA' battery. I use rechargeable 'AA''s in the plastic shells for torches and camping lanterns - far cheaper than the normal 'D' batteries would be. I hope that helps!

A D battery is 5.9cm long and an AA battery is only 5cm long doesn’t that mean the AA battery with the converter is going to be too short?

Hi when you put the AA battery into the converter the +ve end fits into a holder which adds about 0.7cm and the -ve end whilst been held securely sticks out of the casing a few mm .... as a result the converter with AA battery in is same size as D battery at 5.9cm

Brilliant adaptor

Brilliant adaptor uses AA inside a D case, snap fitting keeps battery in + central. Strong plastic frame works perfectly. Better than 1 use D battery in security torch.

Who needs D batteries anyway!

I brought this for my daughter's robosapien. I already had rechargeable AA batteries so it made sense to buy this instead of spending loads on new batteries. This has worked a treat. Battery life may be slightly lower but as we don't use the robosapien all the time, this isn't an issue. It fits in like a normal D battery and I haven't had any issues with this. I would recommend this product to anyone considering it.

Good but not perfect in my experience

These arrive quickly as advertised. Well made. Due to the now high capacity of AA batteries D cell batteries are less critical in many applications so using these may make a lot of sense and does in my example ( air bed pump). The AA battery fits within the converter snuggly. What users need to be aware of is that because the negative contact of an AA battery is a much smaller area than a D cell battery so it may not make contact in the device and in my case needed the device contacts to be modified to work. Also the external diameter of the converter is slightly smaller than the D cells I typically used which results in the converters being a slightly sloppy fit in the device. I resolved this my wrapping sticky tape around the outside of the converter. This may or may not be an issue and will depend on each user’s application. Pleased with them.

Rechargeable batteries don’t fit

Amazon AA batteries get jammed inside of these converters so have to use non rechargeables.

Couldn't get my many different batteries to fit

I tried for ages to get these sorted.Somehow couldn't, got annoyed and gave up.Returned and then bought some D sized rechargeable lithium ion batteries.

Not fully compatible with all D cell devices

I ordered these to be able to use my AA batteries with my maglite, I found that the AA batteries where quite tricky to get into the spacers, but the biggest issue is that D cells have a much larger contact area on the bottom compared with the AA cells, this meant that these will not work in my magnate and therefore I will be returning them.
