Skull Pendant - Bandit - Chew Necklace for Sensory, Oral Motor, Anxiety, Autism, ADHD

My 7 year-old son's chewing has gotten so bad over the past few months that I've had to throw away his shirts at the end of each day. What started out new ended up looking like moths had feasted on it. He chewed on everything. That has changed with the arrival of his skull necklace. He chose the one he wanted, and has been anxiously awaiting the package. When he opened the box, he instantly loved it. This thing is practically indestructible, so I love it, too. Not only is it keeping his shirts safe, it is doing so in a way that doesn't make him stand out for a new reason. In fact, the other kids think it's cool! He has asked for more in different colors and styles. This was a great purchase.

The only reason I'm not giving this 5 stars is because my son hates the plastic snap clasp on the back. The skull itself is perfect. I needed to curb my son's new appetite for the front of his shirts. He'd leave for school looking oh so dapper and come home looking like a swarm of moths had eaten his shirt, stretched out his collar, and dumped water down his shirt. He's an 8 yr old Aspie. He's had this necklace for a bit and only just realized he can nibble off little chucks. I can tell it's going to be a while before I have to replace it. It also looks nice, goes with his clothes (it holes too just like his drawer full of brand new clothes), and no one questions him like they did with this bright red, t shaped, handheld teether he had before.

I have a 5 year old child who has oral sensory needs. I purchased this product at the recommendation of his therapist to aid us in transitioning him from chewing on himself or other items that should not be chewed on or placed in the mouth at all. He has an obsession with Halloween and anything spooky, so this fit the bill! It is very thick and made from a high quality material. It is also textured in parts, which he likes. The size is a good size for an item like this. If it were to come off of the string, he would not be able to choke on it. I was worried about him wearing a chewing necklace to school because of the chance other children would make comments. However, we have received nothing but compliments!Overall great product!!

LOVE this. My son has SPD (sensory seeking) and will chew his shirt collars or even on his fingers. Having a chew necklace helps him to focus, and this particular necklace is his favorite. He likes to put the entire pendant in his mouth and it's not large enough to set off choking or gagging. Also, it has two textures - one side is smooth while the other is lightly nubbed. I purchased a packet of the break-away necklace strings as backup, so that I can make sure he always has his necklace with him. Oh - clean up is super easy because it's made of silicone. Silicone rubber will not support the growth of fungus, mold or bacteria. To clean simply wash with a mild soap and water.

As others say, my 4 year old has managed to chew the edges off a little but not big chunks are coming off at a time. The length was too long and my child could take it off over his head at school. This is easily fixed by taking some slack out at the closure, retying the knot and burning it. I also don't like the closure system. It's just a tension closure so it can be pulled apart easily. However I do understand this is a safety features to avoid accidents choking, so I can't blame them for the design. My son enjoys chewing on the closure and string (which is very silky) as much as the pendant! Easy to clean. We put it in the dishwasher a couple times a week

I bought this for a student that was chrewing through his shirt collar on a daily basis. I tried other items but he did not respod well to them. This skull pendant from Chewigem seemed to be the right texture, size, and sensation. He is able to wear it around his neck and chew when needed as he would do to his shirts. It's been over a month and he has not chewed on his shirts at all :) This item was a good fit for him. I recommend it.

I bought this for my 8 year old son who has ADHD. He was chewing a zillion pieces of gum throughout the day and I didn't want him having all of that fake sugar, so I got him this instead. It looks cool (I mean, it IS a skull!), and no one knows what it's for. He can chew on it or fidget with it while he's doing his work and having something like that seems to help him stay focused. Being BPA-free was an important selling point for me.

This product has been a big help for me. It gives me an appropriate outlet to certain anxious feelings, as well as providing some entertainment while I do the things I need to do. It doesn't make noise, it's discreet (some people ask me why I'm chewing on a piece of jewelry, and are surprised when I tell them that's what it's made for) and it's durable. I've used it and washed it a considerable amount, and there are still no signs of damage at all.
