Color Putty 122 Oil Based Wood Filler Putty, 1-Pound, Honey Oak

I started using this putty in its various colors about 40 years ago for filling nail holes in various hardwoods used in trimming out old houses. It works very well, being very slow to harden. Colors can be mixed to achieve very close matches to almost any finished wood. New users should be aware that this product is intended only for finished woods, not unsealed or unvarnished wood.

As it dries (I use the word dries lightly) the color gets lighter. Back to the droes part. 4 days and it’s still not dry enough to sand.

I have used this product in two rooms and needed a big pot to take care of some snagging issues before some guests come in for the holidays. The product is a great match for our hardwood floors and I have previously used tiny pots. I went for a big pot for this job and although the product is great, unfortunately the top third of the pot I received in this order was very dry, crusty and unusable for the best part. I wet my hands a little to see if that would make it a bit better to work with but can only assume that the pot wasn’t 100% airtight and the product near the top had perished. Wasn't in a position to make a return and wait for a new one so just had to forego that third of the pot. That’s just unlucky though and in general I would say that the product itself is great to work with and dries relatively quickly.

Fill in scratches on wood floor

I had a big length crack/gap on my wood floor hurting the feet of me and my kids since we don’t wear shoes in the house. I used the product to fill it (see photo). unless you look very carefully, you hardly don’t notice.

this is very oily , and stains the wood around the putty, cleaned off with lacquer thinner, the stain comes back , doesnt dry . dont recommend

This color is a little too dark but it does what it’s supposed to do.Home Depot has a similar product and cheaper, I guess shipping fees was included in the price here.
