Brilliant item.
We bought these for our granddaughter’s birthday. Derwent pencils are the best there are, so we wouldn’t buy anything else. Great value.

Not bad for the price.
I'm quite new to using coloured pencils so I don't have to much experience in this medium, that being said, I am very happy with the results so far. well worth a try.

Purchased these pencils for my granddaughters for Christmas.
For Christmas, I purchased my granddaughters, one age 9 and one aged 14, colouring books and activity books as part of their Christmas gifts. I wanted to purchase good colour quality pencils as I find cheap pencils horrible to use. I chose a smaller set for the nine year old and a more expensive for my older grandaughter as she is a more experienced artist. In a mix up my younger granddaughter ended up with the most expensive set and when I pointed out that they were actually for her sister, I saw her face fall. I tried to explain but she was not having it so consequently, I purchased another set of the more expensive ones and sent them to her. They are both delighted with the pencils and told me they are the best pencils to use. Good value.

Good value
Pleased with these, they are blendable and will probably buy some more colours.

Great
Lovely quality pencils. Good colours that come alive on the page. Probably a little more expensive than some others but worth the money. Would recommend.

Great range of colours, performance not as good.
Do you remember the venus colouring pencils, well these are not as good. They offer a great range of colours and they come well presented, in a metal box. But for me the leads did not shade concisely, did not blend as I expected and wore quicker than I had hoped. I have not tried them wet, which they may excel at and overall, I have been disappointed.

Dodgy batch - beware!
**I contacted Derwent and explained the issues outline below. They replaced the specific colours I was having issues with and, though not professional quality (obviously), I have a set of consistent pencils that are actually useful and worth the money. Thank you Derwent for the excellent customer service!**Having used and enjoyed Derwent grahite pencils for some time, I had enough confidence in the brand buy this set of coloured pencils. OK, I knew they were the 'academy' ones, and that they wouldn't be as good as the more professional choice. However, the quality of some of the pencils renders the set virtually useless for more than just basic 'colouring in'.Firstly, the colours of some pencils are questionable - the 'deep red' is not significantly different from the 'red', the 'light blue' is a good deal darker than the 'blue' the 'lime green' and 'acid yellow' are pretty similar and the black is nothing more than a dark gray.Secondly is how the pencils lay down pigment. With some of the pencils they hardly lay down any colour at all. with the purple pencil you feel like you're tearing through the paper just to get some colour on the page. same with 'rose'and blue. Finally, they don't blend all that well. Some colours do, but a lot simply do not. Same thing with burnishing.Having used more expensive pencils in the past, I'd recommend that you don't cut corners, and just go straight to professional grade pencils. You'll have a lot more fun, create more vibrant art, and be a whole lot less frustrated in the process. This purchase feels a lot like £15 wasted.
