Solid. Tiny. Accurate. Never-ending battery.
Overall this thing is pretty much unbeatable at this price and this size. I've been using a C&C BK for the past 4 or so years and to be honest I still prefer its sound, but it does not function as a DAC and, truth be told, I'm probably just used to its sound. The NX2 is less coloring to the music, a more "clinical" sort of sound, which is far better than too much color if I had to choose. Some of the best listening I've ever had is plugged into my Lenovo using the NX2 as DAC and jumping that to the C&C and out to a pair of Triple.fi-10 IEMs. Pretty effing spectacular, really. I get the noise free accuracy of the NX2's DAC and the extra warmth and punch from the BK. Obviously that's slight overkill. :) Or is it?Anyhow - I don't go around with two headphone amps. I would say the NX2's amp fuction is a bit warmer and more "sparkly" possibly due to the high roll-off in the DAC stage another reviewer mentioned. Not that big of a deal - it sounds great. Beats the pants of the noisy and *extremely* inference-prone DAC onboard on my laptop. In comparison the NX2 is utterly SILENT during song pauses, to the point it was disconcerting because I'd gotten so used to hearing a bit of "running noise" as it were with this dang laptop. The amp stage sounds great, a bit better I'd say, but I've not listened nearly as much that way and honestly I'd still pick up my BK 50% of the time ... but the battery does last longer with the NX2 and it's thinner.... Though it is slightly wider and longer than the BK, the fact that its roughly the size of a credit card but is thinner than the girth of a pencil, it's just as, if not a bit *more* pocket friendly.Great little amp/DAC. I was gonna spring a bit more for the new FiiO Q1.... I'm glad I didn't.

Nice simple amp
I originally thought I didn’t get it due to some confusion here. I have had time to focus on the sound I got while using the topping NX2S amp and without. At first I didn’t notice any difference, but switching back and forth a few time with different music genres changed my thoughts. It not real powerful but it can push my over ear cans pretty well. I do have to turn the wheel more or less up all the way but it does give a modest boost. That wasn’t my only intention in buying this amp. I want to get clarity and definition, which I did. It opens up the sound stage and immerses you more into the music. Certain types of music really shine; music that has a lot of instrumentation. There are so many brands and styles out there and they range from pocket change to a second mortgage, but for the price point this one is pretty nice. I’d recommend it to anyone wanting to enhance their listening experience but not strip their wallet. If this amp have just a little bit more boost I’d give it five stars. It’s still a nice amp.

an amazing neutral amp
Will cost you about 9 dollars more for the onyko software for android after this purchase if you are planning on pairing it with mobile. This little amp is amazing. I'm using it as a portable DSD player but I also use it to drive my older 6 channel receiver.Pretty dang impressed and enjoying music at this time. Down side- DSD mode for android is only possible through dedicated software. Built in media players and streaming services have to be ran through input and then heard through headphones or whatever you are connecting. The battery does seem to take a while to charge- but that's fine. It's listed as 28 hours via 3.5 or 7.5 via usb dsd. I'll be testing that listing.---Unit is great---Issue in craftsmanship was found, but I don't think I ever got a response. The unit began falling apart at the back; the custom machine bolt/screw has fallen out. I have insurance on the unit as well; how do I go about getting the screw? I'm concerned that the unit will get dust inside and malfunction and I lack the tap and die set needed to make a bolt. -

Nice little amp
I bought this specifically to boost the power from my iPod (Gen 6) to my Sony noise-canceling headphones since it just doesn't have enough "oomph" to overcome the loudness from jet noise, even at full volume. (...and yes, the headphones are on, silly!) The amp does a nice job of boosting the signal and the bass boost isn't "boomy."The amp comes with all kinds of means of adhering/attaching it so it doesn't move, slide, or fall: elastic bands, non-skid tabs, and a no-motion pad.Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Now this is an amp!!!
This is EXACTLY what I've been looking for. The power this little amp pushes out is INCREDIBLE. This amp is so powerful, that after 41 years of listening to Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, I've only now heard that there is a faint presence of an orchestral rendition of The Beatles' Ticket to Ride at the end of Eclipse. Insane.

Static sound every time I listen
I get a good deal of static noise when using the wire that comes with the product. I get less static using a 3rd party aux cable with this product but I still get occasional static interference upon every use. The bass and gain features are nice but I feel audio quality does get layered with these settings on. Not a bad product for the money but definitely not a top quality amp in my opinion

Great little amp at its price!
I use this amp to push a pair of KZ ES3 and TRN V80 and it does a wonderful job getting both pair at the level I want! Clean noise floor and excellent boost and when I want it the bass boost is a nice clean curve that doesn't muddy up anything. The only problem I had is the 3/8ths jumper wire, that connects it to your phone, was shorting out so I made a newer better jumpe

and I think there's better bass response than I was getting before too
I have been using this with my Sennheiser HD 598, and it's a big improvement over my laptops 3.5mm out. They were already loud enough with the onboard sound, but the NX2 improves clarity, especially at lower volumes, and I think there's better bass response than I was getting before too.The unit came partially charged, and plugging it in with the included micro USB to USB cable triggered an automatic driver install in Windows. You can then select the DAC as the audio output in the Volume Mixer. The build quality (especially metal body) is pretty impressive for the price, although the power switch and volume dial do have a little wobble to them.

Be prepared to revisit your entire catalogue of music!!!
Woooooooowwwww. What a piece of equipment this is.BuildSolid and very aesthetically pleasing. Cables stay tight in place. Volume button sleek with enough resistance while turning that it won't turn in your pocket. It's just a little lighter than an iPod. The 8 little Velcro circles might come in handy, plus you have two thick elastic bands... both would keep it attached to mp3 player or phone.SoundThis makes a HUGE difference to the listening experience. It will MEGA improve volume on any devices lacking in that dept. Most pleasing though is the clarity the music comes through. Crystal clear, and it boosts every aspect of the recording. It doesn't just make everything louder it makes them sharper and makes music sound more like the way the music was designed to be heard IMO. Even on videos the sound improves. i was watching a YT clip of lions in the wilderness and i thought the lion was in my room when it growled lol. Live music sounds fantastic. I listened to a Queen concert and the whole band sounds tighter. without the AMP the vocals seem to take centre stage, especially Freddie's lead vocal. With the amp you hear the harmonies better, the instruments all come to the front and everything is a lot more 'neutral', plus the crowd noise really makes it sound like you are there.TIPBe careful with the volume jumping between songs. Naturally some songs are made louder than others, keep this in mind when changing from different artists. i doubt it would damage your headphones or earphones but you'll probably end up deaf.CONSBe prepared to have to go through all your music collection.
