Witches on broomsticks, can you believe it?
I bought this book after watching the TV series of the same name as I really enjoyed it. Besides the character names and a loose resemblance made to the storyline there is nothing really that corresponds between the book and the TV show. In the book we meet a bunch of witches. Joanna, Freya and Ingrid who are suffering under punishment and are no longer allowed to use their magic. They live in a small town where strange events start happening. Children get ill and are unable to get better. A deadly silver poison appears in the ocean and kills of local fish. Around the same time all three witches decide to start using a little bit of power to help those around them. Freya creates potent love cocktails, Ingrid helps the local women with ailment, rashes and infertility and Joanna uses her magic to animate toys and fix burnt pies. When people start dying or disappearing, the locals quickly blame the witches for their bad luck and they are brought into the local police station for questioning. Overall, the book was enjoyable and super easy to read. I'm disappointed that it only has a passing resemblance to the TV show. Having said that, it is great in its own right. I will be reading the next book in the series, the Serpent's Kiss.

Do not bother
This book started really well and rapidly declined in quality. If you like torrid descriptions of other peoples sexual exploits you may like parts of this book, but if you are looking for clever originality in a story line and believable characterisation, then like me, you are going to be disappointed. I limped to the end of the book purely because I didn't have anything else to read. The book did not read as if this was an established author with many tales under her belt, whatever she was trying to achieve, she did not do herself or her book justice.Don't bother unless you are really bored.

Dissapointing Read.
Disappointing. Enjoyed the series on Netflix and had hoped the book would have more depth and background, but it didn't. The characters were very different from the series and the storyline had obviously been changed for the tv series too. Not what I was expecting.

Disappointed.
Watched the TV series and am very disappointed by the book. No real relationship or affinity between Joanna and her girls. Found the story patchy in places and felt that the ending was rushed. I wasn't keen on the writing style either. I felt like I didn't really get to know the characters either...

OK but the TV show is better
I preferred the TV show (by a long way), and the book isn't very well written - a lot happens in the last few chapters, which could easily have been spread over more of the book. Ingrid's character is also very two-dimensional, but due to the TV show I'm attached to the characters and so enjoyed the read.

Loved this book
Loved this book, it's slightly different from the TV series which I love too! But it's great to read into the backgrounds of the family. I have to say, I do like the creative license they took in the show! I hope they bring it back to Netflix. I will be reading the next instalment.

Amazing
I've watched every episode several times (sometimes in one day) so I was ecstatic when I saw the book for so little. I love the suspense in every chapter and the ending! Definitely recommend to anyone who likes drama romance and suspense.

If you enjoyed the tv show you may like it
Very loosely connected to the tv show, which made for an interesting read. May read more and hope they continue with the Norse mythology and bring in a shape shifting Auntie Pussycat.
