Ghosts...Ghosts...Ghosts...
"The Ghost Next Door" by Mark Alan Morris is a very enjoyable lite read into the realm of "true ghost stories." The book is filled with short, anecdotal stories compiled by Morris of personal experiences of family, friends, friends of friends, family of friends etc., etc. who have purported to have had all manner of weird, strange and ghostly experiences. The book is 100 pages long and of medium sized print and can be read in one evening by a particularly voracious reader. The book is also interesting in that it is filled with mostly weird and "spooky" stories...the stories in this book aren't so extreme that they'll scare you half to death or make you go to sleep with the lights on. It's a really entertaining read about things paranormal or of things that just go bump in the night...as told by real people.

A fun read with some scares.
This is a nice little collection of allegedly true tales of the supernatural. Some of the stories really send a chill down the spine and cause you to glance behind. The ending comments to some of the stories can sometimes seem a little corny but that is a small price to pay for some solid writing where it counts. I found most of the tales pretty believable, which to my mind makes them all the more frightening.

EASY READING (Short Stories of the Paranormal)
This book is easily read in one afternoon with "Next Door" experiences of the paranormal. If this your first reading into the paranormal, then this is an excellent start! Composed of real-life (alleged) dialogue & interviews of personal incidents. There is no 'Real' scientific data to support the claims made by each person. But then the stories are interesting, have regional occurances and Not based on absurd claims!

Solidly Spooky, Ultimately Disappointing
Mark Alan Morris writes capably about the ghostly experiences of family, co-workers, and the inevitable friend-of-a-friend-of-a-friend. Despite never having seen a ghost himself, Morris avoids the skeptic's sneer, treating his eye-witnesses with respect and their stories with interest.Yet....This slender paperback barely breaks 100 pages, and if one were to subtract the author's unnecessary postscripts, the book's length would shrink noticeably.Morris misses golden opportunities to make a solid read a spectacular one. Why he never investigated any of the stories himself "on-the-ground" is puzzling. For example, he might easily have booked the cabin in Joseph, Oregon, himself and related to us what the place was like. His personal description would give "The Thing in the Cabin" more authenticity. And why not include the ghostly snapshot the couple took on their honeymoon in Savannah or provide a photo of the screaming bridge? Failure to do so makes the reader wonder if these stories are all they're cracked up to be.One last quibble. In the implausible story "A Gettysburg Ghost," Morris gives the misleading impression that the Civil War battlefields of Gettysburg and Antietam are right next to each other and that the Bloody Lane is in "the Gettysburg area." Antietam (in Maryland) and Gettysburg (in Pennsylvania) are roughly 50 miles apart. Now, had Morris paired Antietam and Harper's Ferry (a nearby and wildly haunted Civil War site), then the word "area" would work.Still, this book is well-written and well-paced. On the whole, I'm glad I purchased it.

An Easy Read
An "okay" collection of stories, mostly without any real detail or real creepiness to them. Not horrible, but not very memorable either. Not a horrible way to pass time, but not the creepy stories I had hoped for.
