This is NOT an *IMPROVEMENT* over the original ME3!!
Not happy with this mic at all. I bought this after I accidentally ripped the wires from the connector on my original ME3 which was rather old. I figured why not get the new version. Well, it seems the engineering geniuses at Sennheiser decided they'd shorten the mic boom on the *new improved* ME3-II mic (on the right). Great. So guess what? The microphone element does not come as close to my mouth and even though it's pretty good at rejecting feedback that extra distance makes a huge difference in volume, requiring extra gain and making it more prone to feedback. I sing in a hard rock band while playing guitar and I now have to turn it up too much and can't avoid feedback in our rehearsal room. Maybe it will be better at a gig, but I'm not very confident. So I've ordered a new connector for my ME3 (on the left) and will try to repair it with the aid of a how-to video I found on YouTube. I regret this purchase right now, big time.

Pretty good value for the price!
This is a pretty great value for the price. I use it for lead vocals in our hard rock/metal service at church. Never had any issues with feedback in spite of the volume we play at. I bought this specifically because we use Sennheiser wireless systems and I knew there would be no issues. The output is rather low compared to the Countryman mics we use with the same transmitter packs for just speaking applications. I had to change the sensitivity on the pack from -30 to 0. Once making that adjustment, there were no issues though. I would imagine this helps with lack of feedback. It is not low profile (nor does it claim to be), it is on the large side and is black so you will not fool anyone that you are wearing a headset mic. I constantly get teased about wearing a 'Madonna' mic, but since I have a hard time standing still while playing, a mic on a stand was not going to work for me. This does.Comparatively it is not an expensive mic (compared to a Crown for example) for this type of application, hence my comment of good value for the price. The quality of audio is good, but not stellar. Or maybe it is my average singing =) I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone looking for an affordable option for a headset mic.

They've ruined the design
I've been using the older version of the ME 3 every day for years for voice recognition, and it finally gave up ghost, so I purchased this new version. The sound quality and recognition is still great with this, but they have completely ruined the physical design of the product. Basically they have made it so it is extremely tight around your head, so it is extremely uncomfortable and becomes painful to wear after just 30 minutes or so. I have been trying the product for a few days to see if it can get used to it, but it just keeps giving me headaches and I keep having to take it off. It's such a shame, because the old version was such a fantastic product. I don't know why you would take a good product and then just destroy it like this. It might be okay for a child or adult with a tiny head, but for an adult with a medium-sized head who needs to wear it for more than 30 minutes at a time it's just not workable.

Sound was great until it wasn’t.
I’ve been using Sennheiser mics for over 20 years. It was time to replace the old ones. They have never let me down until now. I purchased two Sennheiser Pro Audio ME 3 mics and both stop working in a year. I use them for movement classes and now that everything is online, they are very important to my business. So buying two mics, I knew it would last a long time. Once one stopped I tried to return it for a new but it was terribly hard to get a return message from the company. I’ve now had to buy yet another one, although I’m still waiting for someone to reply and just replace the other two I already have here and both are still under the warranty. Sennheiser has great products but not so great customer service. Seems like they maybe cutting corners now days…
