Is it considered food safe?

No,this self fusing silicone tape is not food grade silicone.And it is used for wire wrapping/leak sealing/electrical insulation etc.

Is it waterproof ?Can I fix it on my garden hose?

Does it work on straight crack of a basin , not wrapping around on a crack ?

I don't think so.Self fusing silicone tape is non adhesive,so it only work for wrapping.

Anyone know what the thickness is of this tape? Looking to use it for fly tying.

It's pretty thing but I would say not thing enough to tie flies. I don't really know a ton about tying flies but they usually small and the sting is really fine, a lot more fine than this tape. Also there is not an adhesive on the tape and I found that it didn't really stick to itself well.
