The product came with no seal but I decided to give it a try. It seems working so far .

It helped stop the itching/tingling, but…
The box was taped closed on each end with clear stickers, but when I opened it, the tube was half empty. It was indented as if product had been squeezed out already. There was no protective seal under the cap. Out of sheer desperation, I used it anyway because what I was previously using was not helping, and I was suffering badly. I could hardly sit still because of the itching, tingling, and the sensation of something crawling under my skin. It did work better than using a baking soda paste, and better than Vagisil cream. The product does not smell good. It actually smells awful, but if it brings relief, I guess I’ll have to get over it. The other stuff I used only brought relief for about 30 minutes before I had to re-apply. THIS brought relief within minutes, and the effects lasted for at least 6-8 hours. It's almost like it numbed everything. It completely stopped ALL of the weird sensations, and I could relax. Keep in mind, I did not have any blisters or sores; I just had the crazy itching/tingling/creepy crawly sensations that you get before an outbreak. This stuff is pretty amazing.I left a message with the product manufacturer’s customer service number, and I’m waiting to hear back from them in regards to the tube appearing half empty, and having no seal on the tube.

I have never had lye in my eye but doubt it would be worse than what I felt immediately when applying the product. I was screaming in AGONY. It burned as if I had put acid on my genitals. I had to shower right away to get relief. The package I received stated it was for newly emerging symptoms. The package I ordered did not. How does a lay person know the difference? This stuff is expensive and non returnable. A trial size was $25. Stay away. I found better relief with cortisone.
