Any chance it will stop cats from scratching my wallpaper off (presentedly protected by a make-shift fortress of chairs and tables.)

I don’t have this particular post. but I have several posts scratchers etc for my cats. If they are scratching your furniture put package tape on it for a period of time; when you take it off make sure they do not see you as they may start again. The idea is for them to forget that area as they do not like the tape; so they just quit going to that particular spot.

Did anyone have any issues with it tipping over when the cat is scratching or just being unstable in general? Thanks!

I have 3 cats. One is a large stray I picked up in New York City. Big ole cat. About 20 lbs. He likes to use this thing as a jumping off point to get onto the top of our entertainment center and he scratches at it too. Never even tipped to the side. It’s very, very sturdy. I’m about to purchase my third. With three active and scratch-happy cats, this thing lasts about 1.5 years.

I've had mine airing outside for a week due to strong chemical odor - anyone else experience this? Would not let cats near it unless it clears up.

Mine arrived today and yes, it has a strong chemical odor. I am sensitive to chemical smells and I can’t be around it and have placed it outside, just as the other reviewer did. If I can’t stand the smell, I am quite sure it is just as unappealing to my cats. Also it does not include any instructions for how to attach the base, which comes in two pieces and it isn’t readily apparent how to do this intuitively. I came back to their page to look for instructions and found none. So, without having had the opportunity to assemble and try it yet, I wouldn’t recommend this product for the above reasons. Two strikes against before even using it. Disappointing, considering the high cost of this product

will this post work for a cat who scratches on door frames?

I think others have already answered your question, but I wanted to add that this thing lasts forever too! I bought it 6 years ago, we had 4-5 cats of our own plus several fosters for the first couple of years, then just 2 cats for the next 4. It is now getting frayed enough that I am wanting to replace it, but it is still in great condition overall. The top area get frayed more (little hairs of sisal that end up sticking out) because of how they stretch and scratch but it looks like what another cat tree wrapped in sisal might look like in 6-12 months. Speaking of other types of scratchers, that have a round post with sisal wrapped around it (instead of this weave pattern), my cats all loved that type more originally, but this post is their favorite thing in the work now. They love to sit on top of it as well.
