They work and are loud
They work. Got them on Tuesday, put in batteries, and placed them on out carpetted basement floor. I laid the unit on the sensor to make sure it had good contact.with the carpet. We got a bunch of rain overnight and water started seeping in Wednesday afternoon. The alarms started going off as soon as they got wet. They are louder than our previous First Alarms units. I made a slight improvement by writing OFF and ON with a Sharpie over the hard to see raised plastic by the switch.

Easy to use and loud
These were easy to use and all worked fine when I tested them. I thought the sound was pretty loud and I think I will easily hear them if they go off. Great value

Works
saved me from a leak under sink after putting in a new undersink water filter. Not pretty, not the best out there, but works well and low cost.

Already paid for itself
I had a dishwasher leak go unnoticed for some time and had to remodel part of the kitchen as a result. Upon installing the new dishwasher I decided some sort of monitoring needed to be under there where nobody ever looks. I came across these and placed one under the dishwasher. A few weeks later my wife tells me she's hearing some sort of alarm going off in the kitchen so I immediately knew something was amiss and ran to the dishwasher (which was running). I turned it off, pulled the bottom cover off and sure enough there was water accumulating under there and the alarm was letting me know. This happened because a lid had gotten caught when the door closed and it wasn't sealed. I cleaned everything up and things are good as new. Had it not been for the alarm I would not have known this happened as the water was hidden underneath. This is definitely a good investment! I had no issues installing batteries, the name brand 9v slid right in and the door closed with ease. Sliding a piece of paper towel in between the fins of the detector is a good idea as it widens the range of water detection. The solder joints that connect the alarm to the actual leak detector could be a weak point if they were flexed enough so I put a dab of hot glue on each solder joint to strengthen it a bit more.

Very sensitive and load
I've had water leak problems in the past and needed to monitor areas to avoid it in the future. I bought these to put by my water heater, washing machine and by the refrigerator water supply. A day after installing we were doing laundry and it went off. It is definitely load and will get your attention. I especially like the on off switch so you can turn it off while you fix the problem. It was just a tiny leak from the drain line clean out cap behind the washer that leaked about a couple teaspoons of water on the floor,so they are definitely sensitive. I think they will save me major water damage in the future. I will buy more to put under the kitchen and bathroom sinks so there are no future surprises

Effective Water Leak Detector, Poor Quality
These units seem to work well at detecting a water leak. Comes with double sided sticky tape to mount the unit on a nearby vertical wall which is nice. One drawback is that the sensor wire is quite short and makes it difficult to place the unit at a convenient location when the sensor must be under, say, a refrigerator. I also had one in six units arrive with a broken wire at the sensor end; the problem is that the sensor wire is so thin that the solder connection arrived broken. The manufacturer certainly isn't putting any extra money into the quality of the sensor wire; mind you, five of the six units worked properly when the 9v battery was installed (I presume the sixth one would also work if it were not for the broken wire). All units in the first three-pack worked fine so I'm keeping them, but returning the second set as it contained the one bad unit. Not sure I'd order these again as poor product quality worries me.UPDATE: Have had three of these units for 6 months or so; they have begun to fail and stop working.

Good Insurance and Great Value
Added to the emergency drip pan of a new water heater. Worked well (only installed one) and loud enough to draw good attention to the water issue.
