Love this movie clapper! We use it at our watch parties for our American dream TV episodes. It is fabulous for everyone to hold in front of our backdrop. It’s a perfect size and it’s really nice quality. The marker that comes with it works well. Great value!

A friend is starting to make YouTube videos and I thought this would help give a little comic relief, you know, "take 37." He loves it and although he will use it for retakes, he will actually use it for its intended purpose. He says it will be a big help to keep track or times and different cameras and camera angels, will reduce time in editing.

After so many years of doing videos for online, I finally got frustrated enough and bought an actual clapper to use at the start of each video to mark them.Simple put, it does what I want. It's nice, the right size, seems to be pretty solid.However, when I first got it, I took the marker and jokingly wrote out my fav tv show's info. I left it there for a few days and then went to use it in a real video. Well.. and this is the caveat.. I was able to erase it. I had to use some cleaner and a paper towel and it came clean. But very fantly can still see the writing before. No amount of scrubbing will take it off :(But this is for something no one will ever see except me, so who cares... especially at the price point.My other concern was the white marker.. I worry when it runs out and if I can find another one. :-/But other than that, it's great.

I bought this slate for my latest film production and it was great.It comes with a pen, is sturdy, and works like it should! My kid was our 2nd AC for the shoot and it stood up to his abuse with no damage at all! :) The slate comes with a white marker that has a built in eraser on the tip… we lost track of the marker and used chalk instead and didn’t have the problem we’ve had w some slates of ghost chalk staying on the slate. I have a slating app that I’ve used in the past but this just works so much better.No fumbling with your phone, no accidentally hitting the wrong button so your screen goes black, no wrong settings preventing the slate from appearing upright, no holding for focus while you try to focus in on a little phone, and best of all, you can get the clap you need for synching audio to video in post.We couldn’t hear the digital slate clap over street traffic on another production but we had no problem with this slate. Bonus, it arrived at my door quickly and in time for my shoot.Do yourself a favor and get a real slate for your shoot.

I like the blackness of the color, is really deep and also the white is truly white, the surface is very easy to write on and cleaning is a breeze.It comes with an erasable white pen, which is very easy to clean with a wet cloth, no residue is left whatsoever. I haven't used chalk on it, so I can't tell is it's easy to erase too.One thing I really like is the fact that the back of it is all black and you can write and eras as well, so that gives you a blank black board for other purposes not just as a cinema clapper.The hinge on it works very smooth, a gentle push/pull will close/open it but is strong enough to hold the weight of the upper part very well.I got this as a photography prop, so to me, the finish quality is very important and because of that I give it a 4 star, there are a few things that could be better in that area, you can see the pictures where the wood is not smooth, but it doesn't affect unless your doing macro photography. But again, this is just because I use for professional photography.Overall the clapper works and looks great if you want it to use it for it's true purpose or as a party or photo prop it works wonder and at a very good price.
