Not detailed step by step instruction
I was very disappointed.. I was expecting more instruction. More content. The book is quite shallow to me without enough to go by.I had to buy another book

Interesting, educational, and fun!
My 9-year-old is interested in film making, so I purchased this as a Christmas gift. I skimmed through it before wrapping and thought it was pretty neat. It explains so many types of animation and has fun projects to go with the different types. Definitely worth it if you have a child who is interested in this sort of thing.

Very basic and repetitive
I am not very happy with this book. It has a lot of different sections listed in the table of contents, but when you actually read them, they are basically a definition of what that means. There's about a paragraph written for a lot of the different sections that I was hoping there would be more information on. There are a lot of different projects listed, however many of them are just variations of the same project, but done with different materials. For example, project 1 is a zoetrope, project 2 is a zoetrope where you use plasticine instead of a drawing. Projects 3-6 are all variations of flip books.I understand that it is intended for kids. I bought it to help my kids (9 and 6) with their stop motion animation that they've been experimenting with and it was of no use to us. I'm also a teacher and I teach a class with basic beginner animation and I thought this might me a useful resource for my class as well, but it isn't. I will be returning it in search of a better book.

Poor quality content.
I bought this book for my 8yr daughter who is quite keen on animation and movie design, but found that the content of the book was far too little considering the price tag, one can get a good quality encyclopedia with this price. The only good thing I found in this book are random mention of some of the tools and gadgets which help in animation moviemaking, but there is no elaboration on usage and functionality of those tools The book is tiny and thin and one can get far better quality animation ideas by watching YouTube videos. This is waste of money , recommend not to buy this book.

Sparks imagination, engages kids in projects
I used this book like a textbook of activities for my five and seven year old as we began our first unit of homeschooling. My children were inspired and interested by the written content and photos. The concepts were easy for the kids to comprehend. This lead to a full month of creating stop motion projects. Im sure well be inspired and busy for months to come.
