Good for a quick transfers but not for long term ...
It worked well enough to quickly transfer my data from older HDD's, but make and quality is on the cheaper side. Good for a quick transfers but not for long term use. DO BE CAREFUL ABOUT PLUGGING IN THE POWER SUPPLY UPSIDE DOWN!!!! Mine started smoking because it is very easy to plug it in the wrong way.

Outstanding Solution
I purchased one of these because I have so many spare drives laying around that I occassionaly utilize, and I do a lot of PC work for my extended family. One thing I hated doing was removing/installing drives in my PC to transfer files and perform recoveries. This device made the whole process very simple and saved me a ton of time.I've used the device numerous times and have never had a problem, installed on the 1st go. I've used on both WinXP and Win7.What I love most is the portability, I did not buy a docking station because sometimes I work on a PC at a family member's home and I don't want to carry around a docking station.I'm sure a docking station will perform just as well if not better, but for me the utility and portability is perfect.Works on SATA, IDE and mini-IDE drives. Supplies all necessary power. Transfer/Read speed is limited to the USB 2.0 bus speed. Please note you may use either SATA to USB2 or IDE to USB2, this is not for SATA to IDE or IDE to SATA.I've had this now for a year and use it often, very satisfied.
