Reduce eye-strain and staring-at-computer headaches by at least 80%
About me: I wear soft contact lenses. I often spend more than ten hours at the computer in one day, and am prone to headaches. I am slightly prone to dry eyes. I got these glasses because I had frequent, severe eye strain-induced headaches. Sizing: I wear a woman's large hat. One-size-fits-all hats are invariably too small for me. These glasses fit me, but they'd be too tight if my head were any bigger. Smearing: Before I bought these, I read some reviews that said they smeared easily. I have found they smear exactly the same amount as my prescription glasses or sunglasses. Just have a cloth to wipe them off and maybe some spray, and you'll be fine. Case: These do not come with a hard case. I believe the company allows you to buy one, but I just bought a sunglasses case from TJ Maxx, which fits them perfectly. Quality: These are NOT cheap-feeling glasses. They are fairly sturdy, have a matte finish that doesn't get sweaty or sticky, and don't creak. I expect them to last for years. Functionality: When I wear these for long periods of time while using the computer, my headaches are reduced by at least 80%, especially those caused by eyestrain. Sometimes, I sit at my computer and forget to put them on until I realize I'm squinting (which I no idea I did!) and blinking to keep my eyes from drying out. Then I remember I have these, put them on, and -- immediately, I stop squinting and have less problems with dryness. They aren't magic -- staring at a screen for ten hours is never going to be good for you -- but they make an enormous difference. Price: I agonized over whether to get these because of the price. I figured I'd buy them and, if they didn't work, try to resell them. Well, they were worth the money, they really were. If I lost them, I would immediately buy another pair. Appearance: Yes, I do look dorky wearing them. You can't really see from the picture how silly they look. But the shape is clearly necessary for functionality, and you (and those around you) get used to it. Other uses: I've begun using these for watching television also, when my eyes are feeling bad. I find they help there, too.

Stopped this designer’s ocular migraines
I am a web developer and designer. I also run a small creative agency. After work, it’s not uncommon to have screen time once the kids are in bed. Needless to say, I look at screens for too many hours per day. Before owning these glasses, I used to get ocular migraines (not a headache but would have bright spots from bright lights that wouldn’t disappear from my vision). I’d have to lay down and close my eyes for 15-30 minutes until the spots in my vision would go away and I could continue working. That changed when I got these glasses. I never have once gotten an ocular migraine wearing them. I now wear them even when I’m watching TV. Looking at a screen is like staring at a flashlight. It can’t be good for our eyes. Thankfully glasses like these help mitigate the effects. Comparing to other brands I have used the cheap brand and also the more expensive versions (i.e. Swannies) that are orange blockers, etc. The lesser versions work decently but just not as well as these. The Swannies work as well but they severely tint the screen and change the colors of everything. The Gunnars are good at both. Durability I have now bought 4 or 5 pairs of these over about as many years because they have kept breaking, BUT it’s important to note that the reason mine have broken is largely do to me having 4 small children who love to rough house with their daddy. Even when I’m holding them in my arms as babies, they will grab the glasses off my face (contorting them in the process). I also sat on one pair (oops!). All these things considered, along with their price point, and I would say the glasses are very durable for what you pay. I mean to say that, they may be a bit less durable than a fancy pair of glasses that cost hundreds of dollars but probably not by much. They are obviously plastic but they are not flimsy and as long as you are not wrestling with them and are exercising proper glasses care (taking them on and off with both hands), these will probably last a very, very long time. In my case, I’m glad it doesn’t break the bank to get a replacement pair when my kids break them. Overall, I am grateful for these glasses and have recommended them to many people.

Good product, but get dirty quickly and are hard to clean.
I have been using the Flux application for quite a while on all of my computers. I find it very helpful and it really helps me with headaches and falling asleep easier at night. Now, you may be wondering why I purchased the glasses if I liked Flux so much, and the reason is that I just notice Flux too much when watching sports, movies, etc on the computer at night. The Gunnar glasses have really helped me in this sense. I can now watch hockey games and can barely tell that I am looking through a yellowed lens. I typically wear the glasses all day, but some days I will not use them because I have some issues with the rear frame contacts rubbing my skull just behind my ears. Perhaps after a few months of use or as my hair grows out, this will go away. Another thing I wanted to note is that these are BIG. My head is by no means small, but these still look big on me. Here are my pros and cons for these Gunnars: Pros: -They do what they are supposed to... They ease eye strain which can help with many things. For me, it helps me get to bed easier after I have been working or playing on the computer for hours on end. It also helps prevent headaches if you have light sensitivity, which on occasion I do. -These are relatively cheap for this market of glasses (which admittedly is overpriced). -Great coverage of your eyes - you'd have to strain your eyes to look over the frames. I purchased this model because they seem to offer the greatest amount of coverage and somehow they are still the cheapest... Win - win, in my opinion. -Good styling and look. -Good fit (for me). They stay on your head well and don't slide off your nose, even when you have a small nose like myself. -Allows you more flexibility than just using the Flux application. You can now get the yellow/sepia effect even when watching TV or looking at non-PC/Phone screens. -Solid and sturdy construction. They are very solid and the lenses seem pretty durable. You don't have to worry about bending or breaking any of the nose contacts on these, as you would with the metal versions. Cons: -Get dirty very easily. Be prepared to clean these at least once a day. Often I find myself cleaning them two or three times a day. -Hard to clean. For some reason, no matter what I use or do to clean them, they still don't seem to get totally clean. They always seem to have streaks on them from the water I use to clean them. Perhaps there is a better solution... -Looks. I like the way they look, but I'm sure a lot of people do not. Let me know if you have any questions and I would be happy to answer them.

They're Worth It!
I wanted Gunnar Optiks because I spend 8 hrs + at a computer for work, and then go home to game. Changing my screen options and contrast colors were just giving me the results I wanted. After comparing prices, reviews, and product descriptions of other glasses, I chose these over products like them simply because of the positive reviews as well as the name brand. I have a few friends who've bought Gunnar Optiks products and they adamantly recommend them. I officially love them too! These glasses have not only reduced my eye strain from computer work, but I've noticed that I sleep so much better after I wear them. Everybody at my work loves them and agrees that they're a huge help to the eyes. Plus, they look cool. I'm not a glasses type person. I'm extremely picky when I buy sunglasses, and I love the way these look on my face. Product Description: These Gunnar Optiks Intercept glasses came in a white, cloth-type bag for cleaning and storing purposes. The bag got dirty within the first day of use, so be mindful of where you put it. My dog decided to eat the bag anyway, so I pitched it and bought a simple glasses-cleaning cloth. These plastic rim glasses have a yellow tint with a slight magnification that is noticeable when you first put them on. The lenses of the glasses are extremely easy to smudge, however they are pretty scratch resistant (Knock On Wood!). I have dropped these glasses on multiple surfaces like concrete, wood, and carpet. I have also accidentally left them in my car in 80 degree weather. So far, so good. These glasses are pretty tough. The lenses are big enough to wear over smaller, square wire-frames so if you have glasses for vision you can still wear these over them. My boyfriend does so when he steals these to wear while playing xbox. A good buy for the price I paid! Conclusion: Definitely worth the money.

One of the best investments I've ever made
Singlehandedly, one of the best purchases I can remember making in my life. Once you give these a fair try, you will wonder just like me why you had never used them before, and you will never go without them. These glasses completely changed how comfortably I use the computer and how clearly I can read text on the computer, and I work on the computer for a living so this means MORE productivity. Even if you barely notice eye strain or pain to begin with, I would still recommend these, trust me, they WILL make your computer experience more comfortable. Make SURE you buy Gunnar glasses that are yellow-tinted, as the alternative more normal-looking clear tint does NOT block out the high frequency light which is why these glasses make you feel more comfortable looking at the computer. When you do buy these and give them a try, however, and this is a BIG however, you MUST wait at least one week or two before you throw in the towel because you will NOT notice the difference right away. Trust me, I almost threw these out and said what a waste after a day or two of not noticing much. However, that was because I didn't have much eye strain to begin with, it takes time for you to really notice the difference. Without a doubt, one of the best investments I've ever made, I work more, I work happier, and my overall quality of life is better! I know this sounds like an infomercial, but I promise you I am a real customer who saw real benefits and want everyone to be able to enjoy those as well.

Not a placebo effect
I noticed a difference in eyestrain when I bought these 3 months ago, but I was weary that I was experiencing a placebo effect. Today was first day not wearing them at work (I forgot them at home) and I can now say with certainty that these work. Right now my eyes feel dried up and strained. It hurts to keep them open and focused on my screen. I need my computer glasses. Just an FYI, I installed f.lux (a computer program that some people say does the same thing as computer glasses) first this this morning, and it's no substitute for computer glasses. My eyes are very strained. People who think they are expensive must not have purchased eyeglasses in the past, or even sunglasses for that matter. $50-60 isn't expensive for the quality. I do agree with people who say it feels like the lenses might pop out, but so far this has never been an issue. The main thing I notice about these frames is that they are very comfortable and study feeling. It is annoying how the lenses fog up and smudge easily, but I'm not going to dock this product because I assume this is a consequence of the humidity they create around your eyes. Since you're only expected to use these while seated in front of your computer, it's convenient to keep a microfiber cloth on your desk. My brother decided to buy these after trying mine, but while shopping found a cheaper alternative brand (Gamma Ray). He asked what I think of those. I told him he'd probably be happy with either, but my recommendation was for the Gunnar's because of the comfort. I can't stress how comfortable these are. I enjoy wearing them, and even more so because of the reduced eye-strain. This is for sure a 5-star product.

Abysmal Customer Service, Cheap Frames, but Decent Lenses
Lens color does what it says, provided you are fairly consistent in the usage. However, the frame material of construction (MOC) is absolutely sub-par. After three (3) months of normal use at work only (~40hrs/wk; so that equates to ~480hrs of *total* use) the frame shear separated at the left lens. It never showed any fatigue cracks or was never subjected to any extreme temperatures or even harsh physical abuse. This only solidified my initial opinion that the "frame material cheapens the overall product." Verdict: I won't be buying another Gunner product, not until they revise their frame material; however I intend to see if I can't get a 'real' frame for the lenses that I do have. *************************************************** Edit: The frame is so cheap I can't even glue it to repair the crack as shown. More importantly, their [Gunnar] customer service has ignored me when a warranty claim was submitted via email for over a week. *************************************************** Edit #2: So they apparently DID get my email, yet chose to ignore it, email thread attached, names/contact info redacted. Worst customer support and cheap company. *************SUPPORT EMAIL THREAD FOR INSIGHT******************************** Dear P*, I apologize for the misunderstanding you have reached the correct department. The lack of response from Gunnar was unexpected and frustrating. After many failed attempts, I wrote off Gunnar as the worst customer service I’ve ever encountered as you completely failed to respond. When I opted to resend this in a moment of desperation and a method to vent some frustration, I noticed that the displayed text on your website is different than the embedded hyperlink. The text displays as su**[email protected] whereas the mailto hyperlink opens a email message to custome*se*[email protected]. I do not know if this is a web design error or a failing on your customer support or what, but I figured I’d let you know. I would like some help with my glasses, but after a month of complete frustration every-single-day at work without my glasses which I paid good money for, I threw them away and wrote Gunnar off. If you can assist me, I’d me ecstatic and reevaluate my present opinion of Gunnar’s customer service, yet I do not have the original defective glasses in question to return. Anywho, please let me know if you can and will assist. Thank you. - P* W* From: W*, P* Sent: Wednesday, June 24, 2015 10:21 AM To: 'custome*se*[email protected]' Subject: Intercept Glasses Warranty Claim Gunnar CS: I purchased a pair of Intercept Full Rim lenses (Oynx frame finish w/ amber lens tint), and after nominally 480 hours of total wear time (3 months @ 40hs/wk) the frame shear fractured at the upper left lens region (see attached). The glasses were never subjected to any abnormal wear/tear or extreme heat/cold. I believe this may be a manufacture related issue (e.g. design or construction). Great lenses, but comfort could use some work
It took me awhile to leave a review for these, because for awhile I wasn't sure I was even going to keep them. The lenses are great, and definitely work as advertised. The slight magnification took a couple days for my eyes to adjust to, as I don't normally wear glasses. During this adjustment period, I did experience what felt like some eye strain and mild headaches, but once my eyes adjusted to them, it feels very comfortable to look through these lenses. The biggest reason I need to subtract two stars from this review is because of the comfort, or lack thereof, of the frames. While I appreciate that the materials have some weight, thickness, and feel of a high quality, this also makes them much less comfortable to wear for long periods of time - at least at first. This aspect took me much longer to adjust to - maybe 2-3 weeks even. It initially felt like the frames dug into my ears, and actually caused me some pain. The nose bridge also felt like it was digging in at times, causing some discomfort. Perhaps if the earpieces/sides of the frames were more straight, instead of curved, and less thick/heavy, it wouldn't dig into the head and ears so much. The matte frames also tend to collect a lot of oils from your hair/skin which might bother some people. Comparing to the ~$20 ANRRI glasses on Amazon, which I also tried, those glasses are much more comfortable and lightweight, but also lack the build/lens quality of these glasses, so there is a tradeoff. Ultimately, I wear these glasses pretty often. Once you get over the long, and sometimes frustrating/painful adjustment period, they actually are really nice, and work as intended. For the price though, that adjustment period shouldn't be there. You should be able to wear them and instantly feel the comfort, because that's their main purpose. Whenever I wear my pair of Neff sunglasses, I often wish these Gunnar frames felt like that.
