Nothing like described! It is NOT a parallel controller and will not work with Mach 3
Dont bother!! It is NOT what is advertised. Everything about this item says parallel port control and ability to use Mach 3. Neither are true!! It has an unbranded USB controller with ZERO parallel port option. The controller is a PIC microcontroller based board that nobody has a clue of a driver. With limitations you can use USB-CNC from Planet-CNC to control it, but nothing else. The home-brew CD-ROM they send you has an unlicensed copy of the USB-CNC software but no driver for the USB controller inside of it. Mine came in pieces. The emergency stop button was hanging out of the front and the X-axis connector was not even connected. btw - The emergency STOP button doesn't control anything at all----nothing! Now the vendor wants me to "go wait some days" and they'll have "their manufacturer" find me a parallel unit. Yet they still dont correct the advertisement on Amazon.....Amazon is becoming more like a street hustle dealing with vendors like this....a E-flea market. Very nice CNC router for the money!
My company bought this for a project that got cancelled, so unfortunately we returned it, but in my correspondence with the seller, they asked me to test it. The MACH 3 demo version on their CD ROM had a problem, but I downloaded the demo from the website, and the machine worked perfectly. There is a bit of a learning curve to the software, but after a few hours everything was fine. The mounting hardware for your (customer supplied) fixture was a little tight, but nothing we could not deal with. If you have the mechanical aptitude to need a CNC router, you will have NO PROBLEMS. There was no detectable slop or backlash in the system, you can do some pretty precise work with this table.

Item received on time and in good condition, works as described
Item received on time and in good condition, works as described. The router is well constructed and runs quite, setup documentation not accurate. Trial and error for stepper motor setups, but after working out the math theunit is working well with my Mach3.

A great buy for the $$
For the price, this can't be beat. It was solidly built, no sharp edges and instructions (albeit in broken English) were provided. The enclosed CD has a Word document that has the best instructions; the printed instructions were hard to make out (i.e. poor copies). Make sure you look through your shipping box thoroughly for screws as the motor-mounts just have their screws set in the holes loosely and several were sitting inside the box. Since you need to attach the motors to their mounting locations anyway, this was a non-issue for me. I did have to throttle back acceleration and speed as the steppers provided couldn't keep up with the settings provided (I set Velocity @ 1400 and Acceleration @ 150). I also used a UC100 USB motion controller to connect the provided controller box to my Windows 8.1 64-bit machine running the latest version of Mach 3 and everything is functioning very well. At this time, I'm very happy and I've no complaints.

Works well for the price. It did need adjustment ...
Works well for the price. It did need adjustment but it came with a variety of bits for milling PCBs.

Nice little hobby tool
My wife surprised me with this, after looking at some of the machines at Rockler. She does listen :).... For the price, this is not a bad little machine. It's not real loud, and it's small enough to run in the house, on a stabile table top. The one I have comes with a comfortable two year warranty. It comes VERY well packed and assembled, you only need to plug in the drives and load/configure the software. The framework is all aluminum, sturdy, and I haven't found a sharp edge yet. There is not a lot of clearance in the Z axis (<2" travel, -1" for tools -- it's an engraving machine, not a mill), so you need to keep an eye on clearance in Z. The tools are 1/8" shank, and it comes with a two fluted end mill, 4 pointed engraving bits, some screws and clamps, and two collet wrenches. You also need to be aware that there are not limit switches, and the system is open loop in design. The spindle speed control is manual, which is not too bad for a tool this small. The control panel has a separate power control for the spindle, a EStop button, and a good potentiometer to adjust the spindle speed.A PC is required to run the tool, and it must have a parallel port (cable is suppled). If you have an old Pentium sitting around with XP on it, it will do perfectly. The software is the venerable Mach3 Control Software, which has a big public domain of knowledge to use with it. There are two weak points. The supplied LazyCam software, which can be used to bring in a DXF file to generate tool paths, is a little flaky, and will not generate some cutting paths, sometimes. Also, the Mach3 copy that you use is a demo program, which will only execute 500 lines of G Code. I really haven't found this to be a problem yet. You can always break the part program up into smaller programs. There are other CAM programs out there that will do a better job. With a tool like this, you really do not want to shell out big bucks for a commercial CAD/CAM package. I settled on Draftsight CAD (which has similarities to AutoCAD) and CamBam, unlimited functionality for 40 runs, then limited to 500 lines of generated code. If you're really good at trigonometry, and familiar with Cartesian/Polar coordinate systems, you can also write your own G code as well. I had 3 classes on it in college, and I haven't found many limitations to the G Code implementation in the Mach 3 software. It's well laid out, and the learning curve (if you have some experience in CNC) is not very large. So that's almost all that I've found that you can say that's bad about it. Now for the good stuff. If you're a maker, this is a great little toy. I plan on getting a micro ATX pc board (with a parallel port - you got to have it) and a cheap monitor, and rolling that into a nice little display for the mill. I also plan on adding limit switches to the project (outlined in the Mach3 docs), just to save the aggravation of a crash. I have 4 projects going already, all wood. I don't plan on doing much with metal on this toy, it's not really made for that kind of work. A good sharp bit cuts hardwood well, and the accuracy is pretty good for an open loop system. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is the lack of limit switches. Other than that, you will be hard pressed to find a little tool like this for the price. With a little work, it can be made into a useful little tool.
