Google Bumper Case for Nexus 5 - Retail Packaging - Black

So this case is not exactly the same as the first case I brought from Google a few years back. However, for the price of $8 it is pretty close. The edges seem to have an issue where the form wasn't cleanly removed, because they are sharp in some places to the point that I had to sand them down a bit. Even with the sanding however, the product held up well and didn't peel or anything like some other reviews have mentioned. Another difference from the original case I brought from Google is the interior of the case is apparently made up of two different pieces, whereas the old Google direct one is one solid piece. Counterfeit or change in design? I don't know and I don't care this many years down the road, it is close enough to the first one that I happy with it overall. Which is why 3 stars, "It's okay".

My wife has the original bumper case ordered from the Google Play store and I can tell you that this one is NOT the same, even though it came in "original" packaging. Holding this case next to the real one from Google, the material is different (more slippery, lower quality, less 'rubber-like'), the button action is not as good, and it doesn't fit as well (especially at the bottom). Also, the molded details around the buttons (on the real one) are missing on this one. I guess the seller can get away with this since most people would not have a real one to compare it to...UPDATE: I sent photos to the seller (Randy Parker) showing the differences. He was very responsive but does not know why the cases are different. He has offered to refund my purchase and allow me to keep the case as a spare, which is appreciated. In general, the case is workable, it's just not the same high-quality as the one purchased from the Google Play Store. In the pictures, the more shiny one is the original from Google.

Well I really wanted to like this case, unfortunately it started separating within a week or two. The color started fading about the same time. My month old case was turning pink and falling apart.Another issue I had is that the headphone opening is fine for cheapie ear buds with a very narrow 3.5mm connector insulator, but when I try to connect my Sennheisers the case prohibits the jack from making a proper connection.The seller for their part delivered as promised, but the quality of the product is meh at best.So the real question is would I buy this case knowing what I now know, and the answer to that is a resounding no. Sure the price is right but I'd happily spend more for a better quality case that accommodates my headphones, and won't fall apart within a month. My 3 star rating is being a little generous.

This case is just a piece of plastic and is definitely not worth the full price of $30-40. More importantly, it ruins one of the best features of the Nexus 5: It's form factor. The Nexus 5 has a larger screen than the new iPhone 6, and yet it has about the same overall profile. But when you put this case on the Nexus 5 (which for some reason gets wider at the bottom instead of keeping the same shape as the phone), it feels noticeably wider and less comfortable in the hand.

I loved this phone case when I bought it two years ago. It held up pretty well considering how many times I have dropped my phone and it actually just started to tear. I loved the bright color and wanted to replace my phone case with the exact same one because I knew it was a good product. And didn't want to retrain my middle aged brain to look for another color when searching for my phone! I am guessing the phone cases that are in stock are the same ones that were in stock two years ago. My new phone case arrived yesterday and I put it on my phone. Small pieces started coming off after I removed it from my pocket. The case is crumbling and is about halfway falling apart now after I had to remove it to ship it back. I love my Nexus 5 phone and I loved my original bumper case but not the replacement one that deteriorated within 12 hours after it arrived.

The first time I received this product, I had the same problem as many other folks: I put it on my phone and it began to delaminate almost immediately. If that was the only element of this review, it'd be getting a 1. It's too bad this has been such a ubiquitous problem because I otherwise really like this case (see below).I proceeded to get a replacement from Amazon, which was a fairly painless process. I've had the new one for a few weeks now and it's been great. When I took the case that was falling apart off my phone, I realized how much I liked the feel of the phone without it. But, when I got the replacement and put it on, I began to like it more and more all the time. It's just as slick as the phone itself and fits perfectly (as one would hope of an OEM product). Plus, I'm no longer hesitant to put the phone down on a table for fear of scratching the camera lens.I can't honestly say how well it protects the phone because I haven't yet dropped it from a high enough distance/onto a hard enough surface to have been seriously worried about damaging it. If it protects the phone as well as it keeps up the slick appearance, it gets 5 stars.

Within a day, my bumper case had what I thought was blue ink smeared on the edges and other random areas. Puzzled, because I know I didn't have it around ink, I finally figured out it was picking up the blue from my jeans. These were not new blue jeans! It just looks dirty and old right away. Wish I never would have purchased.

I have only had this case for a month and in the first week of having it, it started falling apart. Each corner from the insides has chipped off and now the inner side is striping off. My nexus phone is black but some how this case has managed to rub and discolor my month old phone. This case now looks like I've had it for years. Save your money and buy a much more affordable and better made case, do not be fooled by this case just because Google sells it. On the other hand my phone is awesome.

I miss the Nexus 5. When it was new, it was one of the best phones for the price.

I waited over a year to purchase this case. I finally justified it to myself due to the price. After putting my new case on my phone I loved the result. Less than 10hrs later and hardly touching my phone is broken! Maybe it was always broken and I just didn't notice, I'm not impressed google!

Smooth surface, feel good in your hand.But a little bit expensive.

The packaging looked like new but the item inside was damaged and the rubber edges were crumbled. Overall quality does not look like an original Google accessory at all!!!!

Best case available for the Nexus 5. Fits perfectly and doesn't feel awkward in your hand like most other cases on the market.

Love the case but all sides started ripping the next day after putting it on. Not impressed.
