Bob Books Set 3- Word Families

Great books for a struggling reader!

My daughter was struggling to read at her expected level. Her teacher recommended these books and they helped tremendously! The short rhymes and cute stories helped her build confidence in reading and she now at her level of reading in school!

I bought this whole set to help my kindergartener with his reading. He already does a great job reading so this is just reinforcement. The size of the books are perfect for little hands. Definitely recommend for new readers or early readers

I have a 4 year old who is in preschool. I wanted to supplement and encourage reading at home. I started with the Bob series. I purchased the first set of Bob books. I like the Bob books because each page had 7-8 word sentences. It's not overwhelming for first readers. I read and underlined with my fingers every word on a page. Then it was my child's turn to read the page. He practiced reading the page over and over. I pulled out the vocabulary words from each page and made 3X5 flash cards. We took a page at a time to review the words. We also practice spelling the word. Then he had to makeup a sentence using the new word. We took our time to read and practice every page. It took 1-2 weeks to complete the first book. Each book set had 3 levels and 5 books per level. I also purchased the BOB Workbooks which are very comprehensive. In today's times parents, grandparents and caregivers are the first line of teachers not the school system.

I buy set one for all of my preschool students. As they read through the set, I send the books home. The kids love to have books they can read to their families. It keeps them motivated to get the next box. This particular set touches on an important aspect of reading. I have ordered several BOB sets over the years and plan to continue ordering these wonderful books in the future. (I will note that I teach phonetic reading not by sight.) However, if you have a sight reader these sets work just fine. In fact there is a Sight Words set. The stories are cute too. It is a challenge to find books at this level with an actual story to them.

Bob Books have been a lifesaver for my 8-year-old who struggles with reading. The short sentences and repetitive words are a perfect formula for kids learning to read. The simplicity of these books has made a significant difference in my son's reading journey. If you have an early reader at home, these books are a fantastic resource—highly recommended for building confidence and skills!

The main reason I purchased this set was to give my 5-1/2 yr old something that he could actually read all by himself. For that reason these books get a 5 star from me. At bedtime last night I told him to pick out a book for me to read to him and that I had a book for him to read to me (the first book in this set). I had to insist that he save the rest of the books in the set for another time after he finished the 2nd and 3rd books as well. I think between the 3 books he read I only had to help him with 3 words (polliwogs for example). He was absolutely thrilled with these books and the fact that HE was able to read the book to ME gave him alot of confidence. This set is the first set of Bob Books we've had, I skipped getting the first set just because it looked way to easy and a little beneath the reading level my son is at. Each book in this set is just about the right length, long enough that my son felt like HE read a good story, but short enough that he didn't get bored with it. We timed how long HE was reading to me, his kindergarten teacher wants to track reading time at home for a monthly reward program, and it took him right at about 4-1/2 minutes per book. I would totally recommend these books, I plan on getting a few of the other sets now that I've seen how much my son loves this set.

Excellent set of books for my kid who got initiated to reading. We find the books very useful and our kid just loves to read them. Very well thought out books. Strongly recommend to kids as they find the simple sentences interesting and confidence boosting. It is money's worth when you see the happiness in the kid's face as each book is completed.

We love the bob books series for our kindergartner, who is learning to read small words. The books are cute and come in suitable sizes for a pre-schooler/ kindergarten children to read and practice their vocabulary.

I'm an American with a Japanese life and my 7 year old son was born and raised here in Japan. I've bought a lot of English study materials, and the Bob Book series has been uniformly excellent in every way. 100% recommend. Note that my kid at least wasn't self-directed enough to study by himself, except a few days he sat down to read the Bob Books. Instead, we had a mini "English Class" about an hour a day and worked through this material.
