Working for Bigfoot

Harry working for the Big man
This was not what I had expected but was definitely a great way to highlight his time between major cases. The characters as usual are pretty interesting though some could have used a little more stage time to make them a real part of the story. I like that you get to watch the kid grow up and see his personality change as he laments the fact that he never gets to see his father even though he seems to care since he sends Harry. Reading and Listening was a great choice because I once again got to hear the fantastic voice of James Marsters as he brought everyone to life. There are three (3) novellas which define how much Harry can help anyone.Harry is summoned to the woods to meet a new client and he is a bit wary since he has made a few enemies. He is surprised to find that the new client is a Bigfoot who goes by the name of Strength of a River in His Shoulders, River Shoulders for short. River Shoulders wants Harry's help for his son, Irwin, who lives with his human Mom in Chicago and seems to be being bullied. Because the boy is innately magical it could be up Harry's alley or not.' B is for Bigfoot', takes place between Fool Moon and Grave PerilIrwin is an 8 year old boy who is big for his age with a mild mannered personality that has gotten him attention from a pair of bullies. It turns out that the bullies are also Scions and are using Irwin to sharpen their skills. Harry helps Irwin learn to defuse such situations without doing something which would go against his morals.' I was a teenage Bigfoot', takes place circa Dead BeatHarry uses a Bigfoot hunt to get into the woods in order to meet with River Shoulders. River Shoulders tells Harry that Irwin is ill but the children of Forest People never get ill, ever. Something has to be wrong and Harry needs to find out what it is and fix it.' Bigfoot on Campus', takes place between Turn Coat and ChangesRiver Shoulders has a dream that Irwin is in danger and once again calls on Harry to get his son out of trouble. Harry is happy to help him out but tells him that the price for his taking the job is that River Shoulders finally meet his son.Irwin has met a girl and fallen in love, the good news is she loves him back, the bad news is that she is a White Court Vampire. The danger does not come from the girl however but from the outside and Harry and River Shoulders will need to work together to save the kids.Perfect for the Dresden fan or anyone who likes urban fantasy. This can be read without having read any of the previous books since it does not reference any of them. But it does let you get to know our main guy. Enjoy

short & sweet
If you like anything to do with the Wizard Dresden, you owe it to yourself to read these short stories from Jim Butcher. This is the 2nd time I have read this short book, but it’s worth it. I enjoy his style of writing plus the humor that Dresden has about him,

All in all it's a wonderful book!
One thing this book has done for me is that when I'm watching Animal Planet and a commercial for Finding Bigfoot comes on all I can do is laugh my BUTT off! I hear those people start making those calls and pounding on trees with stick and all I have going through my filthy mind is "I'm here Baby come and get me!!!"Thank you Jim! I'm never gonna be the same again. This comes from the second story in the book where Dresden is meeting up with 'Strength of a River in His Shoulders," or Bigfoot, in the forest again. Only this time he has a group of 'Bigfoot Hunters' with him.OK let me back up some. the first story is about how Harry helps River Shoulders out with his son, Junior, who is being bullied in a private school for gifted students. The boy is being ganged up on by a set of twins who have they're own protector. So Harry has to come up with a way of getting Junior to stick up for himself. The second book has Junior sick at a Boarding School. But there is no way that the teenager could be sick as Bigfoot's people never get sick. So Dresden goes to find out what's going on. The story is Hilarious once you find out what's going on.The third story Junior is in college. And he's having a little girl trouble. So it's Harry to the rescue again. And just a small spoiler alert. River FINALLY comes to help save his boy.All in all it's a wonderful book but I wouldn't recommend reading the 3rd story to your kids. It's very graphic on the violence and sex.

Not as satisfying as a full Harry Dresden novel, but worth your time and money (at the Kindle price)
This book collects three related longish short stories about -- guess what? -- working for bigfoot.Sasquatch, has had a child with a (large) human woman, and since he cannot easily circulate in the world of humans, he has hired Harry to look out for the boy. Each time Sasquatch hires calls upon Harry, there is a fresh crisis to deal with. In the first case, the bookish boy is being bullied at school by a predatory pair of older boys who perceive his gentle nature as weakness. Harry gets to channel his inner Mr. Miyagi. A few years later, the boy is at a boarding school and is suffering from an ailment that can only be supernatural in origin. This one requires Harry to pull out his Sherlock Holmes pipe. Finally, the kid is in college and dating a gorgeous girl, and all heck is breaking loose. Harry has to convince dad to visit and explain the facts of life to his recalcitrant son ... while Harry explains the whole debacle to a police detective. It's not a long collection, and it's not nearly as satisfying as a full Harry Dresden novel, but if you're a Dresden Files fan and you haven't read the stories, I think you'll find this collection worth your time and money.
