Works well, but you have to use a LOT of it!
Found this works ok, but you REALLY have to lay it on, if you expect to kill the chara! Pretty expensive though!

It works
If you start to use this early before the alge gets out of hand its great. Let the alge get out of hand and nothing works well. Just wait till spring and apply before this happens again. This stuff is not cheap $$$$$

Kills bottom-of-the-pond algae super fast!
I've been using Cutrine Plus granular for 3 years in my 1/2 acre swimming hole/pond. It's fantastic! We stock our pond with rainbow trout so I only treat 1/3 of the pond at a time. The pond gets up to 12 feet deep, and most of the pond has a depth of 6 feet or greater, so treating 1/3 of the pond works well for us. We haven't had any trout die. The algae is gone within a day of treatment. Cutrine Plus is truly amazing and a pond-saver. We also use pond dye to help slow down the growth of algae and hydrilla. We use muck remover pellets to keep our shoreline and pond bottom muck-free. We use Dibrox for treating hydrilla. I highly recommend Cutrine Plus for getting rid of algae blooms fast. It's easy to use, and is a must for keeping your pond algae free.

Bought this for my brother in New Jersey, after he told me of the problems he was having with the algae/ growth in his 3/4 acre pond. Seems that the label lists specific types of growth it is designed to control. I guess what was plaguing his pond wasn't one of those listed because even at the dispursal rate shown, it did not meet his expectations for algae control. Matter 'o fact, it didn't do much at all. +On the plus side; It was shipped in a timely manner at a reasonable rate. -As to the negatives; Be sure what you are trying to control/kill off and see if this product is designed for that growth, specifically, because "it ain't cheap"! A caviat; If it HAD lived up to our expectations it would have been worth the price and then some.

Does the job
I had a very bad case of algae in my pond. I used just 12 lb of this as a test and it worked very well. I just bought another 100 lb to do the entire pond. I will follow up and let everyone know how it works but if the 12 lb bag was it representation of what I should get it I will be very happy. It got rid of all the algae and I can see to the bottom of the pond in the area that I treated. They also have very good technical customer support and are very quick to respond to questions
