The discs are made of grey cast iron and play a major role in dispersing the heat which is generated during braking actions. The disc itself has the same rotational speed as the wheel of the car. In order to stop the car a friction force is generated between the stationary brake pads and the rotating brake disc. This slows the discs, and therefore the wheel down. Important guidelines when changing discs: - Make sure you clean the new dics with brake cleaner to remove the protective anti-corrosion layer - It’s essential to clean the hub meticulously. The surface of the hub must have no rusty spots and must be absolutely eveto avoid any dics judder after installation - Do not use any copper paste, grease or pastes during the installation of the new dic. Any material placed between the disc and the hub increase the chance of vibrations. - Always change the disc on one axle simultaneoly
