Well hey hey hey!
Greetings!I bought this stone, as an inexpensive item that I could purchase and throw off of a bridge for my birthday! And let me tell you, it did just that function swimmingly. When the product arrived, it came pre broken into three pieces (Score! More items for me to toss off the bridge!). You had the wood, and a broken in half stone, saturated with super glue on one side.I figured before I drove to the tossing bridge, that I would at least attempt to try it out on my rather expensive vintage straight razor. It put a phenomenal edge on it, that under my microscope, resembled a cobblestone road (perfect for removing hair from ones face). I found it very convenient, that no where on any part of it, did it say what grit it was. The completely useless wooden paddle I used to kind of swat at things for about an hour, and play cricket with paper wads in the living room.Anyway, I took the 3 pieces, and gently tossed them into the river by my house. I'm quite sure the fish are happy with their new items, as I know that no human could ever find a use out of this product. For throwing off of a bridge for no reason, this product makes an excellent gift for the anarchist in your life or yourself. For honing a straight razor, this is about the most worthless product I have ever seen.Thank you, COL Ichabod Conk, for making such a wonderful product to throw away immediately!

Near Complete Garbage.
This is basically just a ruse to get the people who are not very familiar with sharpening And wet shaving to know they are making a mistake. Like me. The stone is not long enough, Wide enough, Or the correct grit to sharpen a razor even close to a comforting shave level. I would say its do not buy. Its added to the shaving supply's (where i have had the misfortune of buying on a whim but are generally useless) hanging from my bathroom wall for decorations. It really distracts from the fact that you haven't cleaned the floors in weeks and the shampoo bottle is spilled out and running down the drain or any other manly bathroom misgivings when you got all this classy S**** hanging from the walls.

Can't go wrong with Colonel Conk!
Very high quality, and extremely useful, but if you are a beginner with a whetstone, don't blow your money! This stone is rather small and narrow, and if you don't know what you are doing, you will ruin it during your first use! This is not because of the stones quality or design, both are excellent! This is a fantastic stone to maintain a straight razor that you are actually shaving with.

Works for me!
I decided to try this despite the Supreme Shave Gurus' reviews.... I have to say, I was able to execute both spiral and X patterns on this stone. It turned a slightly pulling razor into a hot knife through butter. Sure, one can go on and on about one's preferences but I tend to think that some folks just enjoy an audience. ( I know I do) Anyway, I recommend this.

Very Fine Stone for Knives
I received this stone today. I am already amazed by the finely honed razor sharp edge it put, on a fine pocket knife. I gave this product 5 starson sharping knives. I have no comment on this stone sharpening a stright razor, I don't use them. I purchased this stone for sharpening very finepocket knives only....................DO NOT EVEN DARE TO PUT A FINE STRAIGHT ON IT.........
