Was a snap to install and is sturdy.
Do not even try to dismantle the chairs hydraulic cylinder. Turn the chair upside down and slide out the metall retention clip at the bottom. Then the tube slides right apart, the footrest slides right on, and you are done in five minutes.

Better than what came with my current chair
The foot ring that came with my current chair had a rubber sleeve and used a steel plate and screw knob to adjust/secure the foot ring. It slid down constantly and required constant re-adjustment.This foot ring is so much better, stays secure and looks better than my original.

Great idea for my chair however interview if you use a tall are based chair period
So I sit on a chair that has the rollerblade type wheels and I'm constantly dangling my feet off the side and trying to rearrange the base so that I can put my feet on the five spokes. I got the idea to search for this from my wife's dental assistant chair. I did some research and came across this one and I went with the largest size 20 inches. The idea is fantastic and the quality on this is top-notch however like I mentioned earlier since I'm on a taller rollerblading type wheeled chair I actually had to turn this upside down because it's too high even at the lowest setting for my particular chair. So now I have 4 uncomfortable spokes (that attache the ring to the chair) where my feet occasionally will rest on but overall I'm keeping it because the ability to put my feet on a circle is much more comfortable than the wheel Spokes of the chair's base. Have a look at my photos to see what I am talking about. If you like my review please give it a thumbs up! Thanks.

Works great - east to install and adjust.
Works great on my 2" chair piston. Sturdy, well made ring - looks great. Perhaps other lower reviews have a different diameter???Nice plastic/rubber inside ring, install in a minute...after the chair feet / stand comes off....that can be a bear. Recently changed the piston, so pretty easy removal....YMMV.... but thst is not the fault of this part!

Not that happy with this item. Plus took nearly three weeks to receive! WTH!!!
Not happy, but got this to work!I wanted/thought I was purchasing the 20 inch diameter foot rest ring with the screw in tightening knob (as shown in the above image) as a replacement for an Alvin drafting stool, that I have owned for over 16 years, that had an 18 inch diameter foot rest ring with similar screw knob tightening adjuster, that finally broke from fatigue after many, many years of use. After waiting nearly 3 weeks for this item, what I got what is a 20 inch diameter slip fit (the foot ring inner metal tubing is supposed to slide over the chair's main seat post) foot rest ring with no tightening adjustment. Was not happy waiting this long to receive the wrong chair foot rest replacement.I decided I was NOT going to go thru the whole return process and maybe have to wait another month or more to receive a proper replacement, I decided to try and make do with the one I received. At first inspection, this part looks to be made very well and pretty high quality (which, for the most part it is), but soon, it became very apparent that the replacement ring has some manufacturing anomalies/defects.First, I had to disassemble my chair to remove the damaged ring only to discover that I had to make some minor, but difficult modifications to both the chair seat post AND the inner sliding ring of the foot rest. The chair seat post modification had nothing to do with the replacement foot rest ring, itself, but the seat post had two small, round metal protrusions, sticking out of the seat post approx. 1/8" on either side of the seat post, near the top of the seat post that prevented the old, damaged foot rest ring from coming off ( some sort of stop?) and to be able to slide the new ring over the post. So, I had to use a high speed metal grinding power tool grind these down flush with the outside surface of the seat post to get the old ring off and get the new one on.This is where I, soon, discovered the manufacturing defect of the new foot rest ring.Either, the support tube X braces that get welded to the foot rest's inner sliding tube and riveted to the outer foot ring tubing were a little too long OR the intense heat of welding the braces to the inner slide tube was hot enough to deform the middle section of this short lenght of tubing to the point that I could not slide the foot rest ring's tube over the chair seat post. The outer diameter of the chair's seat post was fine and the sliding tube of the new foot rest ring, the diameter on the outer ends of the tube, were the correct diameter, but where the welded tube braces were located, allowed only that short distance to slide over the chair's seat post. The center, sliding tube inner diameter was not true to the same inside diameter throughout its short length. The center area of the tube was crushed inwards approx. an 1/8 difference in diameter and the tube would not slide all the way down the seat post shaft because of it being crushed in the center (where all of the structural tube braces were welded) and the foot rest would not budge and slide its way down the seat tube. With the help of my Dad and some high speed heavy duty grinding power tools, I had to hog out enough material from the inside of the slip ring tube to allow the tube to slide down the chair's seat post. This took some time and trial and error, I, eventually, got this to work, but now, the ring is not quite as tight a fit as I would've liked it and with out a screw knob to tighten the ring in place by binding a horizontal screw against the seat post, I will have to devise a kludge to keep this replacement foot ring fron spinning around like a free wheel. This was not a simple replacement part and easy swap out, but still cheaper than purchasing another new drafting chair for $130-$150 as there is nothing else wrong or bad with this chair other than this part.

Lighter and smaller than I had imagined
It’s steady enough, but make no mistake that it’s hallow inside hence how light it was. It’s also pretty small. If you are sitting on a bar stool, you can probably fold your legs and rest your feet on it. However, if you are using it on a office/drafting chair, it’s simply too small to be able to use it.
