Extremely Important Information for Peace of Mind when Angry!
I rarely get angry or have out of control emotions but lately I felt angry about something in particular. So what does this book say to get rid of "simmering resentments" and "Good" and "Bad" anger? So as I continued to read this book I wondered what I could do personally to make myself feel better. As Gary Chapman says: "Anger is the opposite of the feelings of love. Love draws you toward the person; anger sets you against the person." Truer words have rarely been spoken! This book explains the root causes of anger like hurt, injustice or rejection. This book answers the following questions: What can delay an angry response? Why is anger sometimes an unmet need for love? What is a loving confrontation? Why do some people seem to have a change in personality when they are stressed out? Could anger have much deeper roots than we imagine? Is depression sometimes caused by anger? How can you prevent passive-aggressive behavior? In this book there is a prayer that when prayed seriously and with an open heart helps to dissolve anger nearly immediately. I tried it and it worked. This book also has information on how to deal with an angry person in case you got it for that reason. I actually bought this book for someone else, but I found it was helpful to me at a time when I needed it most. So whether you struggle with anger or are dealing with an angry person this book explains why it is happening and what to do about it. It really is that practical and helpful. You will probably feel much better after reading it and understanding your own unique situation. ~The Rebecca Review P.S. Forgiving the person and telling them you've forgiven them is key to getting rid of the obsessive thoughts and negative moods!!! It works!

An Atheist's Review.
I've become a fan of Gary Chapman since I read his easy-to-read, excellent Five Languages of Love. However, if you read Chapman, you can see that the intended audience is Christians. He refers to the Scripture often and some of his suggestions involve praying to God. If you are a Christian, this book is definitely recommended for you if you want to know how to deal with your own anger or someone else in your life who has anger. Keep in mind, I do not mean anger as only its explosive, scream-fest variant. Chapman does a good job covering the other dark side of anger: Implosion, or in other words, silence treatment, withdrawal, etc. His writing, as usual, is easy to follow. His strategies are viable. The issue? I consider myself to be an atheist. So, is this book still relevant to me? Honestly, yes. The author does a good job on elaborating many practical strategies and ideas. He emphasizes on listening (I love his listening, listening, listening strategy). He talks about forgiveness, a concept that should be important to even atheists or agnostics. Some of his Scripture-related stories are interesting to read, if you look at them through the lens of reading a story, similar to how you'd read Aesop's Fables. In a few pages, he provide chunks of writing on what prayer to say. I just skip those parts. If you're an atheist who is actively angry against Christianity or God, skip this book. The irony is that he has a chapter on anger against God. If you're otherwise indifferent about God or religion, buy the book.

Great book for people with anger management issues
I highly recommend this book for anybody who is going through anger management issues; and or want to get there anger under control or should I say to a manageable state. I admit, I am still learning how to control my anger every day. However, this book helped a lot and help me examine myself to address the underlying issues that I have been wrestling with for years. With that being said, I am a better person than I was five years ago. And I will continue to get better as time goes on. Keep in mind that I am only 26 years old. I know I have a lot more Learning to do in life. However this book has made me look at anger in a totally different way. Therefore, I can determine anger in two different ways; anger that is ridiculousness and anger that can be controlled. Simply put I can now determine when my anger is anger and belligerent behavior. The way Gary Chapman explains anger in this book is simple and easy but effective in a way for people who are dealing with these issues to understand what to do and how to control their own emotions and anger issues. However, the way he does it he just does not give you solutions to the problem. He gives you every day situations and teaches you how to apply them. Long story short… Parents if you're buying this for your teenager or a family member that are going through these same similar issues I highly recommend they read it by themselves so they can digested at their own pace. However, I also highly recommend it as a book you would use for a family discussion if your family is going through these same issues. Sit down as a family and discuss each chapter as a family. Even as a young couple going through anger management issues.

I am angry at myself for not reading this years ago. Hopefully you get the joke. It’s an excellent book that makes a lot of sense.

This book helps me how to handle and identify the source of my anger. A good read for those who are wondering how to let go of the offenses in your life to God.

I originally bought this book for my husband, whom I lovingly describe as a human pressure cooker with legs. I imagined gently handing it to him with a supportive smile, like, “Here. A helpful tool.” Instead, what actually happened was: I read it first, got halfway through, and realised, this is fascinating and finally I truly see his perspective. Gary Chapman, thr author, does a great job breaking down the difference between healthy anger (like when someone cuts in line at Cold Storage) and unhealthy anger (like screaming at your WiFi router as if it has ears). Reading the book is like therapy, but cheaper and you can read it while hiding from your family in the bathroom. The book also may help you sound very wise and balanced in arguments (whether you are or not). It’s ideal for passive-aggressively gifting to loved ones under the guise of “support.” Note it does have some biblical references - but they don’t make you feel judged by Jesus. I would passive-aggressively buy this again. It’s actually a very helpful read.
