American Like Me: Reflections on Life Between Cultures Review: Good book - I bought this for my class. It feels great to know about other stories. Some of them I can relate. It does not too long to read about one person, so I can remember and understand the stories better. Review: A beautiful collection of stories - I just received this book yesterday and am only a few chapters in, but I cannot put it down! As a woman who has questioned her own culture identity for years, America's introduction resonated deeply with me. With each story that follows, I continue to be engaged by the lessons, hardships and knowledge the contributors have experienced throughout their own cultural journeys here in the US. This is an eye-opening, must read!

Get it!
I absolutely love this book. As a child of immigrants, seeing their struggles and what they gave up made this book and it's stories really relatable. Some of the stories made me cry a bit. Even if you aren't the immediate child of an immigrant, I think everyone should read to help you be more understanding of others and the hardships they faced, and how they overcame them.

Good compilation
This is a good compilation of stories. I really enjoyed the different perspectives and storytelling prose that felt like we were being "let in", that was vulnerable and honest, but not afraid. I'm glad I read this book.

Powerful, hopeful, & REAL
Beautiful stories of immigrants who have processed their role in the “American Dream”. The beauty of the human spirit lies within these pages. As an educator, I’m going to use this in my classroom. I’m ready for volume 2!

Wow! Great short stories.
This by far has been one of the most impactful books I have read. The series of short stories written by immigrants/ 1st/ 2nd generation Americans were entertaining but also relatable ( to me as a daughter of immigrants.) I have gifted this book twice, and my personal copy is making its rounds at work.

We are all so very different and just the same. It's good to be reminded that each person's experience is a human experience that we can all relate to. I'm happy to read these stories even the difficult ones. We gain in understanding and compassion by hearing each other.

The book itself is wonderful, but I paid over $30 for a new copy and it's obviously used. The spine is ripped and crushed and there are stains inside on the pages and under the dust jacket.
