I had heard that Rosamonte was a good brand of mate, and comes from an area surrounded by rivers known as "Argentina's Mesopotamia." The dry yerba smells like a hayfield--that clean, sundried smell. The tea it makes reminded me strongly of "matcha" tea at first sip--a strongly smoky brew but pleasant. The smoky flavour lasts for the duration of the drink, which is a plus for me. Some milder mates "wash out" much more quickly. This one gives you more enjoyment for the same amount of leaf. I would agree with other reviews, that Amazon.uk's price of 5 pounds for half a kilo is too much, as I have seen it in shops in kilo bags for less than that.

This is my first experience with Yerba Mate. It tastes wonderful, somewhat smoky with a slight matcha flavor. I made iced tea with berries, mint or lemon balm. I've also added vanilla or cinnamon sugar free syrups to hot tea. I use a french press, it turns out perfectly every time, but had to Google Translate the directions. I'm happy decided on this brand. It gives clean, all day energy, curbs my appetite and reduces sugar cravings. It seems to have no anxiety inducing effects like coffee, so far. The package could be better, the bag rips easily, so be ready to transfer it to a canister or container.
