Good product. If you have doubt on fan control, read this.
After using it for nearly two months, I came back to change the rating from 3 stars to 5 stars. In my previous review and many other reviews, you might find that the fan control seems to be bad and the fan speed would be slow no matter which level it was supposed to be on. Now I figure out the problem. The problem of fan control is NOT due to bad electric control system but you switched it at low using the switch! In many fans, there is a pendant which can be used to manually switch the fan speed. In my case, I had switched it to low speed BEFORE I changed the fan control. In this case, I could not increase fan speed via controller and the fan speed was always slow. As soon as I pulled the pendant and switched it to high speed, the controller magically works very well! It can easily switch the speed from high, to medium and to slow. So if you find any bad reviews of "fan controller not working", that is because the fan IS hard-switched to low speed. You can use this fan controller as long as you manually switch the fan to high speed.-----------------I have a Hunter fan and light and its original Hunter Fan and Light Control Model 27185 is broken. I bought this remote kit to replace the broken one. The light control works OK with enough light. However the fan control is not good. The fan speeds of high, mid and low are the same and it is very slow. The installation is a pain in the neck. So I do not want to replace it again. Just want to let people know the problem. I see many also have reported this problem. I hope others do make the same problem.

Great receiver, cheap, easy
This is a great little receiver, the housing is metal, and the remote is hefty so it appears better than the original. The wires are color coded the same as my old one, and the instructions were clear, so this was an easy job. To install it was pretty simple. My Harbour Breeze fan receiver had a wiring harness so I unplugged it, then cut the brown antenna wire to remove it from the fan housing. Then I took apart the old receiver to cut and remove the wiring harness so I could reuse it. Once I connected the wires from the new receiver to the wiring harness I soldered them together and attached the wire nuts. I then secured the nuts to the wires with electrical tape so they don't pop off. After that all that was left was to put the receiver in the fan housing and connect the antenna wire. Don't forget to change the dip switch positions before you install it. The old remote works with the new receiver as long as the dip switch positions match, so if you'd rather use the old one you can. Soldering is good to do, but not necessary if you don't have the equipment, but it's very important that you secure the wiring nuts with electrical tape so they don't pop off and cause a fire.

Good universal remote
Got this to control my generic fan that came with my house so that I could turn it into a smart fan with Bond and Alexa. Installing this thing is just like installing any other fan remote; turn off power, take off housing, connect wires and be very creative trying to get it all to fit. It's not the remote fault, but it's still a pain to fit. The distance that it responds to RF commands is good. I have my Bond on a totally different floor and it responds to commands without issue. My only complaint (very minor) is that it's a dimmer so it causes my hue lights to buzz slightly. Somehow I can't get the dimmer to be 100% and it remembers the light setting even without power.

LED bulbs don't work.
Just a note on my experience. In the description it tells you this remote doesn't work with CFL bulbs (compact fluorescent). It apparently doesn't work with LED either as I bought 5000K bulbs so I could get more light. After 20 minutes or so the lights turned off. I pushed the light button on this remote and lights came back on for about 5 minutes and again shut off. I waited about 10 minutes or so and same thing on for a bit and off again. I checked all the wires and wire nuts with no change. I removed the receiver and direct wired my fan/fan and it works fine now.

Works well with LED Bulbs but make sure to follow the instructions!
This product works well and is very easy to install. There is some confusion in the various descriptions about it being able to dim LED bulbs. IT CAN! My fan came with LED bulbs and the controller works great with them—off/on and dims very smoothly. TIP: The installation instructions tell you the manual fan switch on the pull chain must be set to HI and the light switch on the chain must be ON for the remote to work. Be sure to do this when installing the fan or you will think the remote is defective. It’s probably not but this step is very important!

Don't look for the name Harbor Breeze anywhere; this item is a generic replacement
If one does not read and understand the description of this item, one would assume that it is a Harbor Breeze product, not a generic Hiyill product. There are no Harbor Breeze markings anywhere on the parts or the box. That being said, in all respects it is a great replacement. Nice remote; powered by a simple 9V battery and not the more expensive 12 "mini batteries".For those who notice a hum; I don't....but don't forget you have basically re-installed your whole fan to fit the remote in, so maybe a screw is loose or something else. I had a hard time mounting the receiver, as the power leads were a bit short, but just used a wire tie to hold it in.So far so good!

Great Buy. Love It.
This product arrived on time, in fact it arrived early. We are very happy with this remote. We had no problems installing it. Our celling fan is a 2003 model (not sure which brand). Even though it is such an old fan the remote still worked efficiently. We could conceal the receiver inside the canopy of the celling fan. We used a few zip ties to secure the receiver inside of the canopy. The remote worked perfectly even though the receiver was concealed in the canopy. This remote works in a wide radius (across levels). We definitely recommend this remote control.*Caution*The person who is installing this receiver has to have some basic knowledge of electric wiring. If you happen to have multiple remote controlled celling fans, make sure each set (Remote & Receiver) has a different code, otherwise 1 remote will signal 2 or more receivers.
