Soooooo good
I have a sensitivity to tomatoes so I found this product and decided to try it. It brought me great joy to have spaghetti again! I cook cajun and vegan so I added some fresh-cut veggies, some cajun spices, vegan cheese, and cashew milk to take it over the top. It was amazing and I got full really fast.

Good sauce
Really good alternative. I made lasagna and it was great. I used the whole jar on 9x13 pan. It’s thick and has consistency of homemade sauce. It’s a bit pricey but it is of good quality. I’m buying it again.Update:Bought it a second time and made a pizza which was good. Then froze the remainder in ice cube tray. 2 weeks later I dethawed 8 cubes and made a meat sauce for spaghetti. It was also good. It held up great in the freezer. So giving 5 more stars. 🙂

Great Alternative to Spaghetti Sauce, but
It is very bland. If you’re use to a lot of flavor & spices, I would suggest adding in your own herbs and spices.I got a pan and threw some olive oil on it, then added chopped fresh onions, garlic and basil. Added oregano seasoning, although fresh oregano might be better. I then added a dash of rice vinegar, and a dash of salt . Cayenne Pepper(optional) …I added some cayenne for a little heat factor.Let that sauté a bit and then add in the sauce until hot. You can add a dash of water if you find it to be a bit thick. The rice vinegar will create a more acidic taste, so if you don’t want that, skip that part. Will be buying again, would like to try it on pizza next!

I wasn't sure about the taste, but not bad.
4 stars because of the price and the liquid separating makes me wonder if it would actually stick to noodles. However, it actually tastes good! I food prepped with it so I'll have to try to update how it does when you freeze it and thaw it.Taste: Even without adding any spice to it, it tasted pretty good. I tasted it straight from the jar and it was surprisingly good since I didn't expect this to have any flavor. I did add more Italian seasoning because I wanted to. It's tasters choice on whether to add seasoning or not just like some people like extra pepper or salt and some people don't like a lot of salt or pepper.Texture: Right of the jar and from what I remember real tomato sauce looked like before developing an allergy to tomatoes, the texture looks like any jar tomato sauce.Color: It's orange, but it's more like the color orange that stains your plastic containers. It's not so orange that it's unappealing. The reason I give it 4 stars is because liquid seems to separate from the vegetables that make the sauce. However, that could be from me using a little water in the jar to make sure I got every bit of sauce like we did back in the day when I wasn't allergic to tomatoes. However, that brings up an issue if you're making something that requires another ingredient that has liquid in it. For example, I'm not 100% sure I would make lasagna since the ricotta mixture isn't dry so the sauce may not blend well with it. It also makes me wonder how well it sticks to noodles if they're still a bit wet versus dried out and stuck together so they look like a blob of Raman noodles.Again, the price is extremely high. I tried making my own and the same ingredients used in the sauce was maybe $10-$15 and made a lot more than two jars that aren't even 32 oz (which is the amount most recipes call for), but my homemade attempts turned out to be a science experiments and it was easier just to buy it. I realize a business needs to make a profit, but the price is way too high.

Taste Great
I purchased this for my daughter who has gastritis and she can’t have any tomato based products. I used this for ravioli for her and the taste was great. I’ve used this for pizza and for spaghetti for her. I recommend this for anyone who can have an actual tomato based product.

Not a bad substitute...but needs seasoning (included recipe I for 'mock Prego meat sauce' in review)
From opening the bottle it smelled like a perfect tomato sauce and so was really hopeful. And it doesn't taste half bad, however it has a bitter aftertaste like an old carrot top, and has a sweetened beet hint to it that kind of throws your taste buds off.First I need to say that I purchased this jar as a quick afterthought before I received a shipment of a dozen from the company itself that is due to arrive in another week, (didn't want to wait and needed to know what I was in for -- so keep in mind this can be purchased more economically on the company website, but it takes longer to arrive). For me to get this jar before hand gave me time to think of how to incorporate it for a parent that has tomato allergies and was sorely missing tomato's.If you're expecting to use this right out of the jar -- you coooouuuuuld, but it didn't work for me. so for those of you that ordered and thought it was going to taste just like prego...you'll be disappointed with the taste, and thats why today I spent the afternoon cooking with it and came up with a 'mock Prego meat sauce' that even my Sicilian mom approves of (who came down with the tomato allergy about a year ago).Hopefully this will help ease the blow of your disappointed tastebuds.Ingredients:clove of garlic (or minced garlic, garlic powder)1/2 onion (or onion powder)5 oz ground beef (or meat of choice)olive oil for cooking (as well as adding to flavor later)2 tablespoons Italian seasoning (or fresh basil and oregano)2-4 tablespoons of fresh granted parmigiana Reggiano1 tsp sugar (or if your watching sugar intake : 1 packet spenda/ or sugar substitute)1/2 teaspoon salt (or 1 anchovy)In medium heat coat medium saucepan with olive oil, slice garlic clove in half and remove the center (the bitter part) and crush the two halves and place in pan with 1/2 minced onion till translucent.Add ground beef and brown (at this point you can leave in the two garlic parts if you want, remove it later or just leave it in depending on how much garlic taste you like in your sauce). When the beef is browned, add the whole jar of Nomatto, the Italian seasonings, salt, an the cheese.Cover and let simmer over low heat for 20 minutes (stirring occasionally) About halfway though you can add the sugar substitute, depending on your taste preferences)The flavors will meld together, and after 15 to 30 minutes should be perfect. depending on your taste, you can ad more seasonings.Since this is pretty much the only alternative right now that I can use for tomato's I'll take it. However just keep an open mind when you get it. Just think of it as a tomato sauce base you have to season to get to be a tomato sauce and it'll be fine!
