love wearing this on those really horrible days. really does make a difference in your comfort and ability to work. just wish the vest had more adjustment to it. right now the vest is on the large side and adjusting it smaller is really limited. going larger is not a problem at all.About the cooling packs, the packs arent those gel type things you put in lunch boxes. Rather its a clear fluid that when placed in the fridge or freezer, turns opaque white and solid. when ready to be used - the cooling packs release their "coldness" at a much slower pace than if they were made of water ice. thus prolonging the cooling effect. naturally, the cool packs wont feel as cold to the touch as real ice would, but its still much cooler than your body temperature.

I bought this vest for my son who is an electrician. He said it is just too big for him so it feels bulky. I am going to return the vest and see about re-ordering in a smaller size.

I have a rare MS-like disease and imagined this as being much nicer to wear than is. 5'8" woman, 135 lbs and way too big even at smallest settings, so seriously question "M/L" sizing and fitting weights starting at 100 lbs. Weighs about 8 pounds right out of the box, which is much too heavy for me. Unattractive, bulky, overall awkward. Upper cooling packs lie right atop breasts for women, which is uncomfortable at very least. Sellers were courteous about return, but postage was expensive.

The CoolPaxs are easier to insert into the vest if they are bent vertically in the middle where the packs are attached to each other. The bottom corners of the CoolPax are easily caught in the netting when inserting them into the vest. This technique helps solve that problem. I do think this vest is one of the best presently available solutions to dealing with the heat. However there are definitely some drawbacks that hopefully will be solved as technology advances. The vest adds a lot of weight to the wearer, thus requiring more energy to be expended when working in the heat. More exertion results in more internal heat being produced and thus needing to be cooled. The weight issue is with the gel packs. Wear as few packs as necessary to remain cool.The weight of the CoolPaxs requires that the vest be made of sturdy material. The material that the vest is currently constructed of adds a lot of additional weight. A strong lighter weight material would be very helpful in addressing the weight issue.

Works very well if I wear a light or moisture wicking shirt under it. Is a life saver when I have to be out in the high heat and humidity. Only down side, the Med/Large is a little to big on me.

This vest is a God Send. I wish that we would have had it back in August at the start of the season. He has used this under a furry Tiger Mascot uniform. It keeps him cool for 3 hours. We are so happy, we are going to purchase the helmet pack. Ice freezes in 45 minutes in freezer. I also tested "freezing" the ice in refrigerator. It was cold and partially solid but it wasn't ready in 45 minutes. My son wears a L, my husband wear XL, I wear a women's medium - we can all three put on the vest and adjust to our frame.
