Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 (5.5") Case, Kaleidio [Astro Armor] Hybrid Impact Protection Rugged Case [Package Includes a Overbrawn Prying Tool] [Red/Black]

This is the third case I've purchased for the Idol 3 (5.5"). The first was the HY Series by LK which was terrible - difficult to install, poor fit (the inner shell was made of cheap material which hung loosely at the top and bottom of the phone), bulky, pretty ugly (wasn't a fan of the little dots on the back), and was a dust/debris magnet. The second was the Jelly Series by LK which was far better than the HY Series in terms of fit (it fit perfectly). The problem with that case is that it offers zero drop protection. However, if you're looking for the slimmest case out there, then that's probably the one to go with. This brings me to Kaleidio's Astro Armor case.Pros:- Excellent fit. The material used for the inner shell is more rigid and form fitting than LK's HY Series. As such, there's no perceivable gap between it and the top and bottom of the phone.- Easy to install. Two pieces that snap together with minimal effort.- Relatively slim. Somewhere in the middle between LK's Jelly and HY Series.- Does not easily attract dust/debris.- Aesthetics. This case just looks better/more professional than LK's offerings.Cons:- Slippery. The hard shell part of the case has a soft rubber coating which is fairly slippery. With that said, I haven't dropped it yet.- Prone to scratches (possibly). I suspect the soft rubber coating on the back of the hard part of the case will scratch easily. If that turns out to be true, I'll update this review.Summary: All things considered, this is the best case on the market for the Idol 3 that I've come across thus far.

This case works great. It’s well-manufactured, with tight seams and no excess material. The holes line up nicely, and as others have mentioned, the case does not cover the speakers whatsoever.I’m not a big fan of cell phone cases, but the Idol 3 is quite thin and light, and I had fears of dropping it. This case provides a much firmer grip on the phone, without adding too much extra weight. As far as protecting the phone from a drop, thankfully that hasn’t happened, but I suspect it would perform as well as any other rubberized case.The one issue you may have (which is probably common to many cell phone cases) is that due to the case’s thickness, your charger or your aux cables may not fully connect. My charger connected fine…the only cable I had an issue with was my aux cable, which I use to connect my Idol 3 to the ‘Aux In’ of my car (for music streaming). I solved this problem by purchasing a $3 aux cable from monoprice.com which is designed specifically for use with cell phone cases (it features a very low profile connector shank). The monoprice item # is PID 11502.Nice case – highly recommended!!

Case arrived quickly in bubble-mailer. Very easy to put on, and fit is good. Product made by ASMYNA, though, not the stated mfr. USB charger fits with just a tiny overlap that you can simply push up with your finger, then it fits snug. Headset jack, on the other hand, has an opening that is a tiny too small for my three different headset jacks. I may get an extender like others have mentioned, or just take a hobby knife to make it a little bigger. Otherwise for under $10, very happy with case, feel, quality, fitment, and would definitely recommend to others.Edit: well, absolutely love my case now after 3+ weeks of continue use. not too bulky, in and out of pocket, didn't really hold grease or sweat on back cover, looked very nice. fit was perfect ... until I decided I wanted to paint the hard back insert. DON'T PAINT IT!! First paint actually started to eat away at it, then did my camo (what I use for all my paintball stuff), and now it just smells. buying another case, will keep this as a backup :DEdit2: Up'd to 5 stars! Received new case, fit perfect just like the first! I honestly don't know why some reviews leave 1 star over the fitment, for me, it's fits snug, no gaps, leaves speakers open, and just fits perfectly on two separate orders. I have a cheap headset at work - fits in perfect ... my x12 Turtle Beaches, not perfect. I have one AC-USB adapter that fits right in, my others I simply have to push up the case a little and they all fit fine for charging. Just heed my advice, I ordered black/black, just keep it that way and don't paint it lol!

This has to be the best case for this phone...BY FAR! Best protection on the market. There is a little lip so there is screen protection, doesn't cover the speakers and is not chunky at all. I got the black hybrid and it looks great. Easy installation. Better than any phone case for this phone!

Not like it's gonna mater this many years later, but in the end my phone, which I loved, fell onto tile, while in this case, and the lcd cracked. The glass was still in tact, though. It fell onto the corner of the phone. I don't actually know if it's possible to save the lcd with cases, but I kinda got the impression that that's what they're for. This case held up for maybe two or three years..and then it didn't. I'm just bitter because I haven't had as good of a phone since.

I just got this case last week so of course I don't know how well it will hold up but it feels well constructed and durable. The case went on very easily. Although others said that it's not very grippy and it's slipped out of their hands, I don't find that at all. It fits very well and does not cover up the front speakers. However, the charger port opening is a little tight so some of my usb cords are more difficult to plug into the phone, it has to be a slimmer usb charger cord to fit. I don't think that's a big deal. I haven't dropped my phone yet since having this case on it (but I'm sure I will!!) so I can't comment on how well it protects although I do trust it will protect the phone well. Surprisingly, the rubber portion of the case seems like harder rubber, almost like plastic, but I'm sure it will still offer substantial cushioning when dropped on the pavement or sidewalk or ceramic tile floor!
