Highly recomended to anyone going from a Windows computer to a Chromebook!
This book has been invaluable to me as I've made the switch from Windows to using Google as my primary browser. I used it extensively at first, as I got established on my Chromebook. Now I use it as a reference as I start to use the different features available to me. I particularly like the little red boxes on occasional pages where it states,"It's not all good," and it proceeds to explain a difference beteen using a Windows based computer and a Chromebook that shows that you can't do everything on a Chromebook you can do on Windows. The explanations in the book are really necessary, I believe, to a seamless transference to a Google's based program because the Googles' explanations aren't always as plain as they could be.And, on a personal note, I love my Chromebook!UPDATE - September 6, 2018:Since I got my Chromebook four years ago, Google has "improved" Chromebook several times, which is very annoying and to my way of thinking, unnecessary. I think many of the changes made were made so certain departments could prove their importance to Google and hang on to their jobs, but it has proved to be very confusing. Many Chromebooks can now be used as Androids, and once you use a Google app on your Chromebook, it is considered an Android, and it becomes confusing to those of us who have never used used an iPad, etc. In fact, the more they change the Chromebook, the more I question why I even bought one. I still recommend this book to beginners but I caution that some of what you learn in this book is totally obsolete. I am waiting for a Fourth Edition because I like this author's style of presenting information. I just wish Google would stop trying to fix what ain't broke!

Great to start my senior dad with his Chromebook
I bought an Acer R13 for my dad who is 65. He has some off and on Windows experience but isn't super interested in new tech. He's only had to use tech toward the end of his career. He's very smart but very oldschool. Bottom line, this book was a great investment, for him and later for me. I thought the Chromebook would collect dust but he uses it every day for utilitarian things like recipes and email. He read the book cover to cover and consults it periodically. I'm more of a mac guy so it was an interesting read for me too. As previous reviewers stated, folks who are tech savvy won't need this, but for an older dude who's computer skills are fairly rudimentary, this book has really helped

Excellent Book For Novice to Intermediate User!
If you are a seasoned Chromebook user, you likely don't need this book. If you are a Windows' user with a detailed knowledge of the Google Chrome Browser and Google Drive/Docs, you again likely don't need this book. However, if you are the average person trying to get up to speed on the Google Chromebook, Chrome Browser, Google Drive and Docs, this book is definitely for you. Please note this book is the 3rd edition and has been updated to reflect the most recent changes to the Google environment. I highly recommend this book. If you are an advanced user, please don't purchase this book and then complain you learned very little or nothing new. This book in my opinion is not intended for the "I already knew that" club, it will, however, give everyone else an excellent foundation in the use of their Chromebook and the Google Ecosystem.

informative but out of date for R11
I purchased this book to learn how to use my chrome r11 convertible laptop. I have never used a cloud-based operating system before and was shocked to find no manual came with the computer. This book is full of information, from basic info about the cloud to the many step-by-step directions for performing tasks on the computer. These directions are always accompanied with visuals of the keyboard showing which keys to click at each task stage. Very easy to follow and to understand. The basics were so helpful, learning about the cloud and how cloud-based computers operate differently from microsoft-based operating systems. However, I found the informtion about task execuation to be out of date for my purposes. This is largely because the R11 convertable keyboard apparently differs from earlier models. So, I am still trying out how to do things with the computer.

A great helper for us experienced Windows users making a transition to a Chromebook
I'm an experienced Windows PC user and found it frustrating to shift over to the Chrome operating system. This book has helped me tremendously in becoming "Chromebook literate" in a short amount of time. The format of the book is perfect with clear instructions, great screenshots, and good illustrations. I recommend this book highly.

Third Edition A Must
I bought my second edition in August 2014 and just read the third edition. Really a must-have reference/guide for all Chromebook users from beginners to multiyear users. The third edition has new topics to augment previous editions and updates on the the Chrome OS which is constantly being modified and improved. There are 19 chapters now as opposed to 16 before plus 4 bonus chapters to easily download online. Michael Miller writes with clarity and definition that any Chromebook owner or potential user will appreciate. Get your copy right away if you want to fully utilize and enjoy this system and any chromebook you own or select.

"Alternative Facts/History"
Life in London, England (now renamed Oceania) in 1984 is not as expected. Big Brother is always watching you and the Thought Police can read your mind. Privacy is non-existent. Winston Smith is in grave danger as his memory still exists. He joins a secret revolutionary organization which seeks to destroy The Party. At the same time, he is in a love affair which is forbidden. The serious question on the minds of today's reader now, "Is the USA citizen going to fall under such controls and fears?" Definitely a required book to read and compare with our lives today, which soon may change.War Is PeaceFreedom Is SlaveryIgnorance is Strength
