Richell 94901 Pet Kennels and Gates

I wasn't thrilled about having a large gate up in my living room, but this gate is very nice looking and sturdy. Easy for the kids to get in and out, but keeps the dog out of the den. One part was broken in transit and the seller immediately replaced the part, not requiring me to return the whole product. I chose this product because it is adaptable and as the dog grows, we can use it for many different purposes.

There are many things I could say after owning this product for a few months. My dog is currently only 50 pounds and is half Border Collie/half Siberian Husky, so not just extremely bright, but very strong. The gate itself would never hold my dog in for 5 minutes. I have to use a bungy cord at the gate. She immediately realized where the gate opened and since it is wood, and possibly a soft wood, she started eating it like a chew bone, thinking that is how she could get out. Why could they not have put some bar across that was metal to keep the dog from chewing on the gate. There are also these plastic cap locks that separate the dividers which she immediately flips off with her nose. Can she get out? Absolutely. If someone shows up and she is excited, she flips off the cap locks, pushes the divider all the way out and easily jumps out. Yesterday, she did a leap right out on top of my kitchen table. I spent over $300 on this product and wish I could simply return it, get my money back, and whoever designed this, needs to start from scratch. Amazon, where do I contact you to get my money back? Sometimes it takes more than 30 days to realize how bad a product is. I will give it one star as my dog finds it an amusing toy.

I have other richmond gates that are fantastic. this NOT so much. the dogs are able to very easily push the gait open. there is NO latch. I purchased the large breed size, extra tall and if the small lab jumps up the gate just flies open.I have been using a bungie cord to keep it closed.

My dog has separation anxiety and this fence keeps her away from the door....which she had chewed and destroyed. It looks like furniture, oak stained, and is super easy to put together. The gate is also easy to assemble and use. This fence and gate has been a lifesaver for me and my pooch.

Excellent Product

Looks very nice and expensive, so I purchased two. One arrived with a shattered gate latches, which basically made it useless. The other one arrived with a cracked gate latch which was functional, but my the gate would just pop open when my dog pawed at it, regardless of how much I tightened the gate. It needs a more secure latch, the people who designed this clearly know nothing about dogs. Also the plastic "joints" are not super secure and flex with applied pressure. I can see them easily bending and breaking over time as my dog paws at the gate. Customer support is terrible, they respond if you ask them a question via Amazon, but have not responded to any of my dozen or so follow up email responses. I initially wanted a replacement part, then decided I wanted a full refund, and customer support is nonexistent. For such a pricy product, I really expected better customer support, especially for two damaged products. Know that you are gambling on getting a perfect product that your dog doesn't figure out how to open. If it arrives damaged or it can't contain your dog, you're our of luck (and hundreds of dollars).
