Overall a good controller. Better for some games than others
I am not a gamer. I grew up on Nintendo, and with the new NES Classic that came out but is impossible to buy at retail price, I took an interest in finding an alternative way of playing old Nintendo games. This product is for people wish to plug into their computer and play Nintendo games over the internet. When I connect my laptop to my TV using an HDMI while using the controller, there is too much lag. My computer is pretty new, and my television was purchased in 2010. It may be that my HDMI cable is cheap, but the connect just wasn't fast enough to play effectively with that configuration.I have been playing without connecting my laptop to an alternate monitor, and the controller has been adequate. There are times the D pad seems to stick a bit, but it works better than expected given the other reviews. I try to remember it's been about 20 years since I've played Nintendo, so I'm not as good with the controller as when I was a teenage either. The controller seems just fine for games like RBI Baseball and Tecmo Bowl. I was excellent at Mike Tyson's Punch Out when I was a kid, and there seems to be just a bit too much lag to play that game well. I've been playing Mario Bros 3 with my wife lately, and we both agree the controller seems fine for that game.

Functional, but maps buttons incorrectly
It seems to be working alright for now, but it is mapping the buttons to #2 and #3 in Windows 8 instead of #1 and #2 as I would expect for the main two buttons for this type of joystick. If I didn't have the ability to remap my joystick, I would have been screwed.

Great, although mine seems to be a bit "broken"
I love this - I've been having a great time playing old games on my Mac! The feel is very much like the original NES controllers.Unfortunately, the one I received is a bit "broken" - When pushing "left", my controller tends to also register "up" - In just that corner of the D-Pad, there isn't that "resistance" which usually separates between directions. This is probably just a defect in my specific controller. but it's quite frustrating when playing map games like Legend of Zelda.Still, I recommend this if you're looking for an NES controller for PC and MAC!

Everything is very responsive, but the D-pad is not ...
Everything is very responsive, but the D-pad is not setup too well. The up direction is connected to the left and right, so if you press up and roll either slight right or left you move left or right when you want to really go up.

Authentic?
Product I received was not branded Retro-Link. The packaging was a clear plastic bag with a twist tie. Not sure if this is authentic, but it works.

Almost exactly what you want it to be
The quality is pretty good, if not quite as good as the original, and the connection of the cable to the inside is not terribly secure. You will want to take the back cover off and secure it. Other than that, works great, the feel is very good, and brings back all my old favorite games from when I was a kid.

You're all gonna die
Controller works well, but the side to side scrolling is reeeeeeally sensitive when pressing up on the direction pad. I've died so many times because the controller inadvertently moves my character left or right when I'm aiming or climbing up.

Your better to get Nintendo to USB adapter and use you ...
The buttons are a little stiff for my liking. They don't have the "ease of flow" between A & B while playing a game. The D Pad makes it tough to change directions or push 2 different directions down at the same time.Your better to get Nintendo to USB adapter and use you trusted NES controller.

Good attempt but designer probably wasn't very good at NES games
Definitely has a retro feel. A pretty good replica of the original NES controller... but, not perfect. Possibly a deal breaker.Pros:- Full marks for aesthetics. Looks almost like the real mccoy. If you're the kind of person who trolls The RPF for tips on how to create the most screen-accurate prop for your next cosplay convention, then you'll probably nit pick this apart faster than you can eat a White Castle slider. But if you're normal you'll just have a big, dumb grin on your face. For the record, I am not a Normal but I still have a big, dumb grin on my face =)- Cable length seems similar to the original. Ample length when sitting in front of the computer but you'll probably want an extension cable if you're on the couch.CONS:- Buttons don't feel authentic. ALL of the buttons have too much travel.- The A and B buttons are not terrible but the plastic material feels and looks cheaper.- The D-PAD!! First of all, it's wayyy too clicky. It also has a lot of travel and seems to lack a central pivot point (you can press all 4 directions down rather easily). This makes it very difficult to pull off certain moves. For example, in Super Mario Bros (World 1-2), I wasn't able to run-duck-slide under the bricks like a boss. Instead, I had to bust my way through weaksauce style. Precision moves are also hindered so I find myself playing slow and cautiously which takes a lot of the enjoyment away.FINAL THOUGHTS:If Retrolink can dial in the button response--especially the D-pad--then this would be a must-buy. But, if you grew up playing Nintendo and plan to do super speed runs through Mario 1, 2 & 3 in a single sitting then you're probably better off getting the genuine controller and a USB conversion kit (fyi, I have not tried one of these yet).

but still a close enough version that makes playing fun. I just plugged it into a USB 3 ...
little different from the original, but still a close enough version that makes playing fun. I just plugged it into a USB 3 slot and away i went. I haven't noticed any delay in game play as stated by some other reviews online. the only issue i have is the D-pad it's not 100% smooth when angle shots are needed, but once you get the handle on how to properly do it, muscle memory kicks in. still not 100 but enough to not notice that much.love it.

Retro experience
